What if none of these giant banks or insurance companies were "bailed out?"

What would happen to the financial markets, and why?
The "bailout" is essentially like printing lots of new money and giving it to these banks, mortgage companies, and insurance companies, right? And saddling the taxpayers with the ultimate cost for it all.
What am I missing here? |

| I don't really see what a book about the IMF and World Bank has to do with the current situation. |

many pensions, big businesses have many many shares invested in stocks. If those stocks go down alot like recently then it could screw not just rich but regular people as well. Insurance companies like AIG and others protect these bad occurances but if it is too great to protect then everyone is F'd.
Right now our Gov't decided to help them out meaning gov't tax dollars are being used and that is creating a larger deficit Let's say 10 trillion +. I guess as long as we(our gov't system) create more money and don't care about the deficit as it goes up each year it will make the dollar cheaper in use for the years to come. |
