Another Greyhound Stabbing! (pg. 4)

I wonder why terrorists haven't targetted buses like they have airplanes and even subway systems. Is it because the bus does not carry the same economic clout? I mean, a bus strike does not affect the executive class as much as an airline strike, for example. Just a thought.. it's too early for me to think right now :p
Cosmic Fur
or maybe it's because a bus has 50 passengers versus 300 on a plane, and is also unable to bring down a 100-story building?

In before 9/11 conspiracies about government blowing it up and not the planes. stfu no one cares.

well, the new rules about no liquid carry-ons on planes has nothing to do with bringing down buildings.

Oh nothing's changing ffs. It's only TWO occurrences, not even enough to establish any sort of a pattern or correlation or anything. Not to mention statistically speaking... but I'm not even going to bother going there.

Edit: The preceding was obviously not Katie.

obviously!

I'm talking about escalation of violance in GENERAL!
Cosmic Fur
You noticed the escalation of violence in general because of the greyhound stabbings?

Btw, that was me, lol.

lol, what is this, national dumbo day?

what I meant is - times are changing, violence is escalating.. and of course we're going to see outbursts like that, regardless if it's on a bus, plane or just on the street etc

they had stabbings on TTC/subway - should they have metal detactors there too? who knows!

I'm reading CityNews every day at work, and every freaking day there're stabbings, shootings, etc etc all around the city

It's called population growth. The number of people has increased and there fore so has the number of incidences. The truth is, the rate at which crime is occurring, is actually dropping. Canada's crime rate is at a 30 year low. There are a few reasons you think times are getting wrose:

1) you are of age to remember the incidences.
2) news media makes the stories more accessible to more people.
3) the focus of what is reported has changed.

What people should be really worried about is fraud, or financial crimes, but those stories are too boring and complicated for the evening news. Far more Canadians are affected by credit card fraud than guns or stabbings.

Oh man, I read an awesome article on a billboard at UTM on how the reported things in the media are far less likely to occur than the daily deadly things that we don't worry about at all. Been trying to find it, but I can't.

Exactly. The reason things like these TWO stabbings on the Greyhound are so widely reported and talked about, is because of how rare they are. It is so extraordinary that it sticks out in our minds.
