That's why I wanted to put together a mix like this... the tracks are just class."

And couldn't have said it better myself.

Gracias

listening to this now, should have some form of constructive criticism within the next hour or so.

edit1: about halfway through and i already want to have your musical babies.

edit2: WHAT A ING MIX! I am simply taken aback, this is one of the best things I've heard this year, period. Love every song on there, and quite a few are going into my catalog. The flip from 90 into 125 around 18th minute was interesting, not a complete drop off but definitely some separation there.

This thing is going straight onto a CD and into one of the coveted 5 slots in my CD changer in my car.

You, sir, have outdone yourself this time. It gets me in a mood to throw something down myself this weekend, though I doubt I will get anywhere near the quality of this.

You and I have such similar taste it's almost disgusting!

Thanks for the great review, Denys! I'm the one that is taken aback, here. :) I'm very glad that you enjoyed it.

Perhaps, one day, we will make sweet musical lovechildren together.

Yeah, the extreme bpm change was something I wanted to throw in there without making it terribly sudden and jarring, and I feel like I pulled it off the way I was shooting for. There is notable separation, but more the kind of separation you might hear on an album rather than a sudden "WTF" moment in a live mix. At least, that's what I was aiming for.

Definitely throw something down, I'd love to give it a listen. I always check out your sets.

i've been dabbling with the "inbetween" house/tech stuff. if one track could summarize what the hell i'm trying to describe it's: Mr. V - Circle Track... which will likely be included on my next mix.

but i'm putting something together that's very much in that line of work. not quite as deep and melodic as in the past, but not the over-the-top tech like Disco Bus from my last one.

hopefully have it all together by the weekend, if not tonight - my one evening of solitude before all the extra-curricular crap kicks in.

I've also gone more and more towards that sound (as far as what I'm looking for to mix)... though, I tend to mix Disco Bus-ish stuff to maintain interest... At least, for mixes that are intended as "demos" to give to local promoters. I'm lucky if I can get people who are willing to listen to EDM out to a show, let alone the more "restrained" stuff.

It's a shame that Baltimore is an 8 hour drive away. I have a feeling we would have some fun mixing.

baltimore has its own problems. the house scene has been up and down every year. this is sadly the downtime for most non-mainstream music because of the economy. so it's tough for any promoter to make out with revenue.

the big thing right now is house parties/private events. 95% of my "gigs" come from just 20-30 mother******s gathering in some converted basement and jamming until 4 am with pills, thrills, and sweat on the walls. patiently waiting until people are ready to go out and support house music again. until then i'll just be whoring my on TA...

we'd definitely have a good time mixing. maybe try to put together some productions.

Nothing wrong with 20-30 people who are into it... that's more fun than a few hundred who are not, IMO. :) Sounds like you are handling it well.

Yes, would definitely love to put together some productions. I've always talked of online collabs, but they've never panned out or made it very far. Problem is, finding someone who I'm interested in collabing with that uses the same DAW...that would make it easier.

online collabos are very meh, it's more fun to get together, get some drinks going, smoke up if you're into that and crank out something.

i hate the "ok, here's what i got so far, now it's your turn" emails. lol.

btw what do you usually operate with? at the moment i have a Reason + FLs into Ableton thing going. I'm still on the "make as many different sounds and noises and whatnot" stage.

I run FL Studio pretty much standalone (other than VSTs and such, of course). (Click my sig for new trackage...) Been wanting to mess about with Ableton, though.

Yeah, I agree that an "in-person" collab is preferable... I just don't know anyone around here that's any good or that I feel I'd work well with. :)

I need to give this another listen before it gets a proper review from me, but it was the soundtrack to the last hour or so of my night/morning at work today and the folks I was working with were loving it - and these are the kinds of folks who listen to like 50 Cent and whatever bad country music is being made now.

That's gotta say something. :p

Whether that something is good or bad is in the eye of the beholder. :stongue:

Thanks man, look forward to the review. The transition into "Always" sucked, unfortunately. Go easy on me. ;)
Allied Nations
Fantastic mix with an immense closer!

Pleasure to listen to :)
