Luongo is good but there were some goalies last year who were better and who carried their teams.

Toskala did with the leafs. they were but he had so many good games that his one silly moment pales in comparison
Brodeur was unbeatable at times.
Price was as good as anyone on his day.
Biron kept philly in most series
Manny Legace was good in what I saw of him
Nabokov also looked very good.

tbh there's not many bad goalies last season, besides raycroft & ray emery :p So much talent around the nhl & surely many more to come from the ohl, ahl etc.

Dear NHL, here's a short list of what you stole from us during the years:

Lehtonen, Kipper, Toskala, Nurminen, Toivonen, Norrena, Backs, Markkanen, Hurme, Niittymaki.

Jarmo Myllys.

pay them and they will not leave.

why wouldn't they want to play against the best players in the world?

but offcourse they want to, but the players in the world dont play in my league, duh!

with season tickets for the past 15 years or so, one would really like to see them 'stay at home'

i hear you, but at the same time i think it helps hockey in your country by motivating youngsters to want to be good enough to be in the nhl. If you look carefully, since the fins started to make their way into the big leagues, their olympic/world teams have gotten exponentially better.

on an unrelated note...the vintage jerseys for the habs 100th year.

not all of them are nice, but i don't really know any clothes from 1908 that would look cool today.

we didn't steal koivu:p

Partially true, except we haven't had any promising youngsters (only a few exceptions) since like 1993-94 when we 'gave' NHL the likes of Koivu, Lehtinen, O Jokinen and so on. There just hasn't been a generation of talent since then.

Tuomo Ruutu is prolly one of the only truly potential superstars we've had for years, and he's injured for at least 50 games-a-season. :(

edit: here's a post a post from a year ago regarding how it feels to loose players from your home team:

HIFK 97-98

Kimmo Timonen
Brian Rafalski
Christian Ruuttu
Olli Jokinen
Jarno Kultanen
Niklas Hagman
Jarkko Ruutu

Goalies:

Tim Thomas, Nicklas Backstrom

Edit: And back on topic, go Pens!
