wipeout fusion

it was apparently the worst game. They tried new things in it, but I think most of them failed, however I liked it.

It was also the first game to have the Zone mode, where you go faster and faster until you blow up.

The PS2 game wasn't very good IMO. Do yourself a favor and pick up Wipeout XL for the PS1 if you don't have it. You can play it on a PS2.

Yeah, Wipeout Fusion is usually ignored like it never existed. Wipeout HD, the Wipeouts on PSone (all 3), and the Wipeouts on PSP (essentially Wipeout HD on a handheld) are where the series is done best.

Some fans have made an alternate soundtrack for Wipeout HD. I've listened to a few so far and it sounds like they make a nice fit for the game:

Wipeout Fusion was great, but harder than this one, anyway had more tracks (there are 6 or 8, but each track has 3 different versions counting the reverses) which make the game longer. I liked it, has many options too, and the pilot characters returns from Wipeout 1.

There isn't the HUD of this game in Wipeout HD?

I will hear that soundtrack, because the tunes included are only 9.

Wipeout Fusion was for PS2.

Wipeout Pure and Wipeout Pulse were for the PSP.

Just bought this last night...

...and honestly, I can't think of many reasons why I wouldn't give this a 10/10. It's that good. Now, first off, I haven't played a single Wipeout game since the 90's when I first booted up the original on the PSone. A long ing time ago. Even though I had a PSP, I never tried either of the Wipeouts, same goes with XL and 3 on the PSone. Keep that in mind.

Also, my personal rating system of games is in context with the game itself. Obviously I'm not expecting a $5 game on Xbox Live to be as epic and story-packed as Metal Gear Solid 4, so I judge games according to what the developer was set out to do.

Here, we have a game that cost me a mere $21.24, including tax, yet I feel I bought a full-blown retail game that is up there with anything else yet to grace any of the next-gen consoles. The graphics are gorgeous, the controls are spot-on, the soundtrack is a blast and perfect for the setting of the game, and there is plenty of unlockable content that anybody will be amused with for quite a long time.

I attempted to try multiplayer, but every game I joined must have consisted of a dumbass host, since the game never started and we would all just sit there until eventually we got impatient and all of the players would begin exiting one by one. Still have yet to try it, but of course this problem is on the user end, not the developers.

So far, I've completed the first two events in the campaign mode, and about halfway through the third. The tracks are absolutely wild. I'm still unsure of a favorite, but I can tell you, not one has disappointed me or left me unfulfilled. I absolutely love the style of the game: the title screen, the track introductions, the announcer voice(s)...everything.

I can only think of one single complaint, and even this is hardly worth noting...the soundtrack, albiet, like I said, is ing awesome, is a little short. I feel like there's only a handful or two of songs. Before you know it, you'll start hearing ones you've heard over and over. Again, the songs are AWESOME, so hearing them again is not something to get pissed off about. On top of that, I hear not only is the ability to listen to custom soundtracks in the making (probably available through a patch later down the road), but people are already uploading their own custom soundtracks for the game onto the web. I'm not sure how you will be able to implement that into the game itself, but obviously their has to be a way that I just don't know.

I feel bad that I just typed out that long of a paragraph addressing an issue that isn't even really an issue in the first place. I'm just trying to hit home the point that this game is rock solid, and that Studio Liverpool should be patting themselves on the back for a golden effort at bringing one of the fastest racing franchises into the HD-era, complete with 1080p and a smooth as silk 60fps framerate.

Despite this being a PSN title, I consider this ****** to be a system-seller. A full-blown game shrunk down to a downloadable file at only $19.99. Due to Microsoft's file size restrictions with Live, you probably won't see anything like this on 360's service, that is until MS lifts that filesize cap (which they have been consistently doing to encourage more substantial efforts in releasing more epic content for the Arcade).

Either way, a true gem that Sony deserves props for right here.

Its actually really easy to make your own soundtrack, or playlist rather. On your ps3 xmb, copy songs from a cd, memory stick, or whatever, onto the hard drive. They should be under "music". Then make your own playlist out of the songs. Start the game and go to audio options and choose your custom playlist. It will end up playing the songs you put in yourself. You can also choose (for those long ass songs) to continue the song in the next race or races. For instance you finish a race before the song is over, then the following race will continue from where the song ended last.

I race to some new trance tunes currently on the market, which is fun and exciting, while keeping the soundtrack fresh.

Now that is just plain ing awesome. Thanks for that buddy. I retract what I said about the soundtrack and am now willing to commit to my 10/10 for this incredible piece of game.
