Yeah, about the legs thing
One of my friends is a Body builder, and says that if you workout your legs on a regular basis, because they are the largest muscle group, they will cause your body to release more testostorone, resulting in higher muscle building capacity. Ignoring legs will be a detriment to your workout routine.
Im 6'5", 210lbs. |
thats why squatting is the best weight excercise, and my friends and i live by it
i took weight training in high school for two years, just for access to a free gym and to make sure i work out regularly.....i went from maxing 95 lbs to 175 in one year! (benching)...squatting 135 to 235...free weights rule! just know what you're doing...another reason i'm glad i took the class, i learned a lot about the body and how things work...btw i weighted about 130-135 at the time and was 5'9"
but since i started college a year ago i've found myself never having time, and i stopped working out....so i've probably lost all those maxes :( but i'm hoping to start up again next semester when a friend of mine transfers to my school...motivation always helps :)
oh btw, and this really worked for me....don't worry about "getting ripped"....i just worked out purely to get stronger, and i ran a lot.....running really cuts you up.....i have a friend who ran cross country and track for ONE YEAR and holy is the most cut up person ever, and he didn't start working out till the end of that year...just focus on working out more than the result, it'll all come in time, just work hard |

Itd be easier to address your guys' issues if you PMd me :)
quick overlay though
steroids shrink your nuts not working out. Working out actually increases the amount of testosterone created so your nuts actually would probably grow :)
For toning you need to do 6 sets of 12 repitions with low weights. If you want a list of workouts PM me or something and I can give you some good direction. I need to know the look you are goin for though :)
and Slylee talked me into it...Im 6'2" 160. I didnt want to say because then Id have to back it up by telling you how much weight I lift, and ill leave it at its more than 95% of the people you see at gyms :) Im a lean machine
Diet is pretty important if you are over 22. If under...I eat pizza and popsicles and Im like bruce lee. but again if you have a specific question PM or :) |

steroids cause the body to stop producing its own testosterone...thats why its important to cycle them...if u go on them for extended periods of time, recklessly, u'll get in trouble
didn't any of u read about the famous ex-baseball player in one of the SI issues...his nuts actually went into his body and it took 4 months for them to drop back, after he stopped the steroids

I think swimming is bad. I swam a lot for 15 years and it ruined my skin, hair and posture. It built up the muscles in my shoulders unevenly so I have terrible posture and permanent knots in my back.
If you want stomack muscles, do some ab workouts.
For cardio, how about dancing 6 hours or so on weekends?;) |
Well i would have serious words with your coach. Although i have noticed that serious girl swimmers develop major problems with their back, although i have never seen anyone have bad posture.
Keeps me fit anyway :) |

| I used to work out a lot, for football (yeah I was a jock prior to trance... LOL) But now that I've been out of high school for a couple of years, I don't really lift weights anymore. I usually do cardio-style activities. For example, racquetball, ennis, basketball, and the ever popular running. Now I'm in decent shape (round is a shape, right? :p ) But I might try out all of your ideas. if only i could figure out working the lower abs... :conf: |

yeah i didn't like my last coach much but it was not his fault entirely. swimming in this country has that affect on a lot of people. the overdeveloped muscles support you back in the wrong way causing you to look hunched over. |

I love the gym and I love doing my lifting , ive been doing it for over 2 years now, I have an average weight of 12/13 stone. I have a sheet of an weekly work out , I only do weights 3 times a week , ranging from legs / abs , pecks and back. Also i have 2 circuit days where i just do a run usually a few miles. As for your question , it depends on your body shape, If your Fat then id suggest using machines to get some muscle developing. The free weights are un-balanced and require proper lifting overwise your gonna pull something in your arm. If your knew to the gym id get a trainer or ask someone for advice im sure there is plenty of ppl out there, i usually find the internet helpful. here are some good sites.

Unfortunatley i go drinking twice a week , and i drink pure larger which is jnot good as it takes the starch out of your body , and you require 8 hours sleep minimum a night to get muscles growing. theres a little saying i like.

Totally, but it doesnt effect males as much. Although i ahve had a lot of problems wiht my back in recent times, because my right side of my back is stronger than the left. The latisamus dorsi muscles. So it means i get aches and paines down my left side, and this is all because i am right handed, and have my bag on my right side etc, when i walk hom,e so i ahve to balance things out now.
Sounds stupid. :) |

I drink every single day, and go to sleep at 2 am and wake up at 8 am. I havent noticed anything affecting my workouts :)
swimming should be supplemented by contradictory workouts. If you are getting a back work out then work out your chest too, if your rear delts are getting huge, get the other 2 heads of the del in order. What ever muscle is contracting to swim, there is another muscle that has to contract to pull your arms back to the original spot. The pecs purpose is to pull your arm across your body so with swimming you probably arent getting the right motion to deveolope them fully. make sure you do lower back too...the least worked out muscle in the body. |
