In that case, you are in the wrong party bud. The republicans have been taken over by the religious right and hawkish wackos on foreign policy. We had a republican congress for most of Bush's administration and aside from launching needless pre-emptive wars that would make Ronald Reagan roll over in his grave, they also passed the largest expansion of the welfare state in history and grew NON DEFENSE domestic spending at more than triple the rate Clinton grew it. True conservatism in the GOP is dead.
You might want to reconsider your vote.

SO believing he's going to be a better president than McCain makes us brainwashed followers, huh? What does that make you? McCain's drone bot!!!
Your argument hold not weight here. You equate political affiliation or support for a candidate to be "brainwashed". Clearly, you yourself fit that criteria... |
Krypton will hurl his body over the cliff in the name of Obamessiah... |

Yes, you can say the same thing about a certain population of McCain supporters... doesn't make my point about Obama's personality cult false. I am calling him the savior and messiah, as a mock to his arrogance and elitism, that he "is the one the world has been waiting for", etc. People support him for several reasons.... some will vote for him for the sole reason that he is black, not because they like his policies. Some will vote for him because his empty words sway them.... some will vote because they want to be on the side of history... some because they have voted democrat their whole lives and that will never change; It's not always a matter of people voting for one person over the other simply because they think he'd make a better president. |
Your point is completely moot, because those qualities are ubiquitous throughout politics. Everything you just said, "Some will vote because his empty word sway them...etc. etc", I can say the exact same thing about McCain. People vote because his empty words sway them, they vote because they are lifelong Republicans, etc, etc. Your point is moot. What are you trying to prove here is my question...
As for the personality cult......Kim Jong Il has a personality cult, it's called the religion of Juche. Obama has grass roots supporters, not a freakin personality cult.... No one is bowing down at the feet of Obama calling him "Dear Leader"... |

Historical insight? In your version of history, GW Bush is the greatest president that ever lived...
Apparently, you know nothing about the Moral Majority and the rise of Christian fundamentalist factions within the Republican Party... |

FYI it's Abe Lincoln. second, no one is talking about the Moral Majority. the original Moral Majority was intentively bi-partisaned. Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter changed all of that.
i'm talking about the religeous right. an ideology that has it's roots in every party in every election since the founding of the Republic. you kids talk about it like it's a phenomenon unique to only the previous generation. |

By extreme minority, do you mean the 97% of registered voting black people who will vote for him? What's more likely... that it's because he's black, or because they've taken a long hard look at both candidates, studied their policies to the bone, and will be making an informed decision?
And, insinuating is different than specifically stating. I never meant to insinuate a blanket statememt about every obama supporter, as I already mentioned. |
Sorry, I didn't catch the disclaimer where you said: "This blanket insinuation only good for black people."
What the dude? 97% of black people are too stupid to make an informed decision? Where do you get this bigoted crock of ? Just because they have principles and preferences different than your own does not give you the right to be a racist prick about it. Take a look at how the black vote went in 1996... it's absolutely no surprise that they're voting for a Democrat this year. And I hardly think the possibility of the first qualified black politician in office is "just because he's black" - if that were the case Jesse Jackson would have got more black votes than Bill Clinton.
| quote: | | It's just a coincidence that there are a load of his supporters that buy into his empty words. |
And where do you get off declaring yourself the ultimate arbiter of what words are meaningful and what words are empty? It's like you expect the whole world to buy into your personal view of Obama's politics, and whenever someone doesn't it can only be explained by their stupidity - which in this case you seem to equate to their race.
Pathetic.
| quote: | | Side note: I'm not a believer in blind faith or religion, and it annoys me that the republican party is so associated with it. For me though, I stick to my solid conservative principles for policy beliefs, and detatch myself completely from the religious nonsense. |
Ha. You're such a farce man. If you really "stuck to your solid conservative principles" you'd be voting Bob Barr, because John McCain is a facade and Sarah Palin is a religious red herring. |
