ok, back to Guate.
Antigua is very nice.
Be sure to stop by San Francisco el Alto, (my home town)
on a Friday Morning for the biggest market day in the country.
Quezaltenango (Xela for us locals) is where you should stay, and visit other places from there.
OHHH don't forget to try some Arroz con Leche.

I lived in Guatemala and El Salvador. I can def. tell you that the night live is better in El Salvador, but thats it. El Salvador has nothing interesting to see, and as someone mentioned, its ALWAYS hot.
Guatemala in the other hand has so many different awesome places to see. Antigua, Atitlan, Tikal, so many lakes and volcanoes. The food in guatemala is also 1000 times better than El Salvador. Their national dish is pupusas which is a tortilla with cheese inside (ing win btw) but thats it. In guatemala the food is very diverse. You can eat mole, Jocon, Pepian etc etc.
Guatemala with out a doubt is the better place. Its also a bit cheaper than El Salvador (from what i remember, havent been to either one in a year) |
