I have the time to listen to a few more sets lately, and i kind of want to listen to people i have not heard 300 times before. Sometimes, new user , new djs do not get much response in the dj promo section due to the unknown skill levels being an obstacle for downloaders (how many times have you downloaded a set that looked great and it was mixed in a way that convinced you the compiler was deaf?), mixes get bumped off the page with little views or replies.
Please suggest sets from unknowns (from TA) you think are good. DO NOT suggest yourself and try and include style, genre, even your thoughts. I am sure we all could make a few discoveries this way.
/bored
also, do not bother suggesting sets from guys who have tons of responses as we all already heard those:p |

It has nothing to do with this and everything to do with the elfreak/nefardec/clovis/Az/RJT/lucid/etc circle jerk. You could start by listening to any of the mixes outside of your little social circle.
The popularity of a DJ Promotion thread is directly proportional to the amount of posts a user has on this site. |

People who say this kind of always amuse me. Do you have any idea how many reviews all of those people listed have written for TA's other than themselves and their friends?
:conf:
The only thing the people you listed have in common is that they are the only ing people putting any effort what-so-ever into that forum, beyond that you've got no complaint at all and really only come off as bitter and/or jealous.
You'd do well to think before you start typing, or at least before you hit "submit reply." |

if you search my activity inside dj promo i think that statement will prove to by false. Do you think this thread is for personal gain? I just want to listen to something i might have missed without having to blindly click on something that might be awful. Sorry about that. |

I download sets by most of the people in that "circle jerk" because most of them are actually damn good.
I like sometimes taking risks (lol) and going for just any random techno and deep/tech-house sets out there. Haven't had that much luck with it unfortunately, the only relatively unknown guy I can recommend safely is DJ Kopernikus. Guy mixes trance (I skip those mixes :p ) but also tech-house. His mixing isn't the best but the tracks are excellent.
There's some other dude with a massive, massive thread with over 80 mixes that didn't have any replies whatsoever. Here it is. I listened to a random set of those and it had some really nice parts, others I didn't like as much. I bet there's some more good stuff there.
One guy that didn't have much attention for a while despite always putting very, very good mixes was Chesco. I see he's been getting replies lately though. |

Absolutely agree.
Also, when I go hunting for mixes outside the norm for me, I am almost always looking for something quite different than mainstream trance or prog. I don't like listening to that stuff, so more often than not, I don't - there are a million kids doing it, and I don't feel like reinforcing or supporting music I simply don't like.
It's the people who are trying something new (like a new genre), doing proper "old school" mixes (I forget who did them now, but there was someone who did two old school electro "mixtapes" recently that were ing fire), or in general just look like they're actually putting effort into what they do. |

The only reason there is a social circle is because everyone knows them from c0r, and they are damn good DJs. If anyone wants to join that circle, they had better get involved so that everyone knows their name. It's just simple marketing. |

technically i don't think it can be considered a "circle jerk" if there is at least one female involved.
one of my recent favorites was this one
bubbleguuum - b0rken [slow house/breaks/mnml]
slow, sexy, deep. |

He has optimus prime as his avatar and is tall and (dont want to say this with out sounding like a cluless twat) i think he is middle eastern? Cant recall his name or his ta user name.
Maybe someone can help? |
