| I never saw anything labeled 'Vaiio' before, but I just searched for the riva remix of rapture, and some person had it titled 'Vaiio (aka iio)...is this true? What language does this come from/mean? Is it a nickname that is well known and I just accidently missed or are other people surprised by this as well? |

I'm not sure if this is true, but I read it somewhere when the track first came out:
first, it was planned that the name of the track will be vaiio, not iio...But they had problems with Sony 'coz of the name. (Vaiio laptops), and then it was changed... |

For some legal reasons Sony has forced them to change the name from Vaiio and they desiced to choose Iio or something like that :)
After one year we could say, this really was a "one-hit-wonder" :D |

| While I'm asking this then, can someone tell me how to pronounce either, or both, of the names? |

on the white label it was named vaiio but when it got signed they had to change the name because sony already had an artist called vaiio on one of their labels.
vaiio/iio/wotever is just a cheezy pop-house type singin woman. the only reason it got big in the real world (being the trance world) was because of all the remixes. i heard it played in clubs months and months before it got released into the mainstream :) |

They always pronounce it on the radio as 'eye-o' |

yup to all the above.
iio = markus moser, producer + nadia, singer/songwriter, both from new york
the "vaiio" white label had the creamer & stephane k mix and the deep dish mix on it, but when ministry of sound picked it up, they only put out the creamer mix and the riva mix. :( |

| They were briefly Aiio in between Vaiio and Iio. Then they realised it sounded e. |

| I'm pretty sure the Sony brand computers are named 'Vaio' and not 'Vaiio' but point taken as their spellings are quite similar and I would also assume that the pronunciation is very similar, if not the same. |
