No . MDMA is exactly the same chemical compound it was before they added it to the list of controlled substances. It's no more or less dangerous now than it ever was or ever will be (unless our anatomy changes over millennia, I guess).
I see this pattern almost every time I read one of your replies to me. You come up with this totally bizarre and out-of-left-field interpretation of some specific quote taken out of context and rant for several paragraphs about it. I'd call it a straw-man argument but I don't even think it's intentional.
MDMA today is chemically identical to MDMA 40 years ago. People who attempt to obtain it on the black market because it's illegal may be at greater risk than people who bought it in pure form years ago on the open market, but the drug itself is exactly the same.

Appreciate it or not, your response was irrelevant. Not only that, but I wasn't attempting to discredit it. Most of the points were perfectly valid. They were just on a topic that nobody other than yourself was discussing. It's not my fault that you either can't read comprehensively or have an overactive imagination.

A comparison which I never established. I always referred to MDMA and other chemicals explicitly; "ecstasy" and "street ecstasy" were used synonymously. If you can find a single statement wherein I referred to MDMA as ecstasy or vice versa, please do point it out, I'd love to see this.
And ecstasy isn't by definition illegally produced. It's any pill containing MDMA, MDA, or other chemical in the 3,4-Methylenedioxy-*-amphetamine class. Not like it has a dictionary definition, mind you, but that's the most commonly accepted one.

So don't accept it. I was stating an opinion, hence the phrase "in my opinion."
You know, what's so incredibly stupid about this "debate", and the reason I'm not indulging you by responding to your points directly, is that I'm on the same f*cking side of the fence that you are. I've never supported anti-drug laws. I'm well aware of how little good they do and of the countless economic and sociological problems they cause as side-effects. It's just completely and totally irrelevant. This whole discussion was about legal pills and the safety of the actual chemicals inside them, both absolute and relative to other things people ingest.
Nowhere did the merits or demerits of prohibition enter into the discussion. There is not one single instance of anybody talking about this before your post.
I guess I should have known that somebody would jump on this thread as an opportunity to preach about that, and ignored it when it happened - but I didn't. Sue me. |
