Contact lenses (pg. 2)

This really pisses me off. I just can't hold my top eyelid up. I can keep my eyes open, but the opening it just too small. I can't grab hold of my top eyelid. I'm just going to have to back to the eye doctor, and put them in there. At least, I've gotten over the fear of touching my eye, I can touch them with no problem, its just my eyes are too small. If the lens was a bit smaller, I could put them in much easier.

Krypton: What brand lenses did you get?

Also, tips...I pull the upper eye lid and the lower eye lid apart, look in the mirror and just push it on. I don't move my eye at all. It then has a vacuum like suction noise and I close my eye. Works like a charm.

I got Acuvue, 1 month contact lenses. I can leave them in for 1 week straight but then I have to clean them. I did that, but now the struggle is just to get them in again. I'm practicing every 30 minutes to try to put the right one in, and everytime I fail. I just tried again, this time, I'm being more forceful with my upper eyelid. I think I'll get it eventually.

Stop for 2-3 hours. You are getting stressed out.

And that's why I don't wear contact lenses. The sheer thought of touching my eyes makes me shiver. I first tried when I was 15, and even bought a pair, but I couldn't stop blinking, and I soon got annoyed.

A couple of weeks ago I did some exams in order to find out whether I could do it now. I failed miserably at that :p

It took me a bit too so don't think I was a pro from the start.

Oh, no, that's not what I thought, although I reckon some people are better at it than others in the beginning. I just realised that irrational fear wouldn't fade away after trying for that long...

Besides, I think I look better with my new glasses than without them :D

Yeah I do like the new glasses.

Regardless of how they're marketed and what your doctor told you, no contact lens should be left in for a week. Ideally, you should take out and clean your lenses each night. Just because you *can* leave a contact lens in for a week doesn't mean you *should*. Besides, if you're trying to learn how to put in and take out your lenses, as well as how to clean them, you need practice which you won't get by leaving them in that long. I know people are going to be all "OMGWTF!!!11 I leave my lenses in for like a month and I'm fine," but that's still horrific lens hygiene that greatly increases your chance of infection, ulceration, etc.

Start good habits now by removing your contacts every night.

100% agree here. Not to mention your eyes are dry as when you wake up. I know when I sleep with mine in (hardly ever happens, but I won't ever say it never does,) my contacts nasty even after putting drops in them. I really hate having to do it.

I was excited when I was first able to take them out. Now I'm frustrated I can't put them back in. If I can't do it, I can't drive tomorrow, because my eyesight is that bad. The good news is, I can touch my eyeball with no problem. I can even rub the pupil part of it...:nervous: :nervous: :disbelief
