What will ultimately make me happy...

1. A family.
2. A job as a CRNA.
3. Coaching sports on the side.
4. A house of my own.

I'd like to come into a ridiculous and mysterious inheritance from some distant ancestor on my mother's side of the family.

I have always loved houses, so I would commission one to be built in some New England town - one that I could ensure would last for hundreds of years. I'd have an enormous library with candelabrum and great volumes of books as old as I could find them. Doesn't even matter if they're in languages I cannot read, books are one of the few things you cannot waste money on.

I'd also like to own my own Vineyard somewhere. Or at least have a friend who did. :toothless

Given the time and funding, I'd like to know as much about the creation of traditional absinthe and other spirits as possible. I would then like to distill my own Absinthe. I know you don't need a great amount of wealth for this, but I certainly do not have the means to do so at this point in time.

With my money, I'd like to open an enormous Veterinary clinic. I don't know much about medicine at all, even less about animal medicine, but I would like to hire some of the best people for the job I could find. I would pay my staff whatever it takes to keep them happy and on top of all that, the clinic would completely be free to the public.

I've actually done quite a bit of travelling in my actual life, but in this alter dreamworld, I would like to travel to as many places as possible.

Sort of funny that I would rather wish to fund as many other people's education as possible, but never really own, now that I think about it.

In my dreams, I am a great benefactor of small renown. I'd rather be known for my ing amazing Absinthe recipe than my generosity. :thepirate

I don't know if this is really the 'happy and carefree' response you were seeking, but pipedreams are sort of neat.

//I also once dated a girl who was really messed up beyond belief. She had one of the most affective histories I'd ever heard of a human being, much less a small child, having to endure. Our relationship did not last, but she did impart onto me once that she wished nothing more than to open a home for vagrant or abused girls. It would bring me a great amount of happiness to have the funding to throw any amount of money it took to make this dream of hers possible.

It seems like, you're kind of answering a different question..."What would you do if you had a lot of money and could basically do whatever you please?"

I'll have to think about that one.

Remember, guys, the dreams of the coffee far above the Kona Coast on the Big Island? I guess the vog (volcanic gas/fog) is poisoning a lot of the coffee trees. That just seems like a real slap in the face. Even my dreams aren't realistic.

Sorry, but picking a dream on the side of a functioning volcano is sort of like building a giant mansion on top of a sandy cliff that's prone to landslides.

Chrissi, do you have a hobby?

i enjoy learning new things and thinking. it helps the day go by faster and for me it's important. in a perfect world i would win the lottery, work maybe two days a week doing whatever just to keep busy and go to school. i would go back and study history and once i'm done with that go and study biology or something. i don't know, i'm kind of a nerd and like learning stuff.

Yah, I think:

1)running
2)cooking, inventing cool foods/dishes
3) swimming
4) embroidery/crewel work
5) playing piano
6) listening to music
7) gardening

Or are those not considered hobbies?

You know, I have to study and work so much. I'm not as fast thinking as most people, don't forget...

P.S. to Halcyon+On+On: nice to read your posts, again.

:p

P.S. to chimera: I've been in school forever. It gets old. Maybe when I take a break, I'll crave mental stimulation. I dunno. Now, I get tired of thinking.

I think for me it's not things I want, but more like freedom to do things I'd like.

I don't think I have materialistic view of things, but I'd like a quiet place to live in the middle of nowhere where I can raise kids(so I can throw kick ass house parties without neighbours complaining), a career that I love and find pleasure in (which I'm doing right now), and a nice garden where I can grow things and have quiet time for contemplation and introspection.
Oh yeah, a nice girl who I can share my life with. :)

PS: Being a world famous DJ wouldn't hurt either :p

i've been in school for a long time too and i enjoy it. i've got a masters and gone to school abroad for an extra semester just because between my undergrad and masters programs. i think i know what i'll be getting myself into...i've also taken random courses here and there just for "fun."

this is what i want for work...for a personal life i want a family sometime in the future but i'm not birthing any kids anytime soon.
