Anyone else been able to listen to it? Just got my copy tonight. Seemed forgettable for me at first and I liked Watergate 01 since I feel it resembled Watergate, the club, more. I knew I was getting a housier treat when I looked at the TL though.

The CD starts off with this deep techno vibe to it and picks up from the 3rd track with those cool German vocals. Mood stays like that until around 50 minutes where they play a DJ Koze track which had this Japanese vocals to it which I felt was the low point of the mix. Then I felt they just crammed up some tech house to some trippy acid stuff to finally ending with progressive into the last 30 or so minutes of the CD.

Overall it's worth purchasing for some melodic minimal type house music. Best track imo was Sascha Funke - Mango (Tobias Thomas & Superpitcher Como Mango Remix)

Wanted to buy a Watergate shirt as well, I'll get one if I ever get the chance to actually go there. :sadgreen:

I just started in on it, loving it so far. Although in terms of new mix cds out, Matthew Dear's Body Language is still doing it for me...haven't been able to turn it off :p

Gotta love Get Physical stuff.

How does Matthew Dear's mix compare to Dixon's Body Language album? That for me was the best Body Language album. Too many people whoring out Johnny D - Tramodyssee imo.

After a few more listens to Watergate 02, I'm liking it. :gsmile:
sot
meh, deleted it after first listen lol

too many crackles and pops

should have gotten full masters and not used vinyl imho

mastering is terrible too

way too much emphasis on the highs, hurts my ears.

specially first track.

bit of a letdown imho since his artist album was great

2/10

Of all the really good mix CDs I've had a chance to listen to recently (Fabric 42, Matthew Dear Body Language, Danny Howells Renaissance, Steve Bug Bugnology 3) this one and Charles Webster Coast 2 Coast are the best. I really like this.

It's good but I agree with sot that the mastering should have been better. The tracks are quite uneven.

Nice cover.

Matthew Dear's Essential Mix this year is much better than his Body Language mix.
Mr Game+Watch
Love the cover!

I thought it was extremely boring and that Matthew Dear is pretty boring in general.

BTW This is not a studio mix (for those of you who may not know). THus why the mastering can be considered poor. I disagree.

Yesterday was released the second mixed Cd of the Watergate Sessions. After having Onur Oezer in their first session it was time to invite Mr. Sascha Funke to develop a genuine DJ mix. It was recorded at the Watergate Club on a warm August night using records of various ages. Any and all cracklings and sounds from the needle touching down come from the use of vinyl records, are deliberate and desired, and are an integral part of the sound of this authentic DJ mix
