its sad...more people try and stop MP3s then kiddy porn...just shows us that big buisness is more importnat then the welfare and protection of out children....very sad and disturbing to me. |
i never realized this until u brought it up
good point!
and yeah..
mp3 sharing has nothing to do with 9/11 or the government
taking away our 'freedom', i understand
but u make it seem like they're gonna imprison u or something... |

| My guess is that trance artist might like the mp3 trading. Many of us wouldn't know what trance is if it wasn't for mp3 trading. but we do have the case of some artist such as L-vee. They should understand that they probably wouldn't be big if it wasn't for mp3s. and for artist outside of trance...the media talks about all this stuff about the trading of the mp3s of the new eminem cd...but it ends up rank #1 on top album in the U.S at the moment. By the way I see it, CD sales are up because of mp3s. |

| I hear you man. In the US we can't just turn on the radio and hear Armin Van Buuren spinning some set. It's all rap and J.Lo out here. Plus, in the record stores you used to be able to listen to whatever CD you wanted before you buy it. No store does that anymore. Plus every CD store sucks. AG is the only way I get most of my new trance, techno, breaks, whatever... |

I dont think that many of the trance artists are against mp3 trading
Tiesto said that he likes it as long as the tracks traded are released. Armin van Buuren even encourages people to rip his radio shows "turn on those mp3 rippers guys!" :D
James Holden himself has stated that he likes to download a set every now and then. Most of the records trance artists produce aren't even made for money anyway, since they will probably never be reconized by the masses and sell millions like the songs of Dr Dre/Eminem/britney do |

What i think most of U fail to realise is, that it's not the Trance genre that's the problem, it's the commerical mainstream stuff like Britney and Metcraplica being shared, Acts like that create the most money for the record industry and when ppl DL them instead of buying the CD it hits the industry where it hurts, their bank balance.
What the music industry fails to realise is, that since the advent of music sharing on the net, Record sales etc has increased, this is FACT ! but the knobs in the industry think those that are DLing should buy the albums too, which as a matter of fact a lot of downloaders too, a lot of ppl are still on 56k and tend to DL a few trax from an album, and if they like what they hear, they DO buy it.
But again the industry fails to see that, all they see is 3 songs that have been DLed that they have not sold, WISE UP fools ! those 3 DLed songs just got u an album sale !
From what i see on this forum alone is that a lot of U DL MP3 but also when the vinyl is available U buy it too, cos U want to spin it, play it yourselves etc in sets.
There are some in the Trance scene that Don't like MP3, Lange for an example, he complained about this site hosting one of his tracks for DL, Blackhole recordings don't like MP3 either.
Ralphie B on the other hand thanked this site for hosting one of his tracks, it got him more exposure and He realises that, He also requested in chat once a remix of one of his tracks (that turned into a 2 hour chat session with Ralphie and was really enjoyable, thanx Ralph for all the info u gave us :) ) James Holden does indeed download livesets, he even came into chat once asking if any of us had his EM as he did not have it himself. ( This was provided to him of course lol )
The overall picture is this, no matter what steps are taken, the authorites will never stop MP3 sharing, it will just move around from site to site, from network to network etc. Even if AG is shut down, there will be an alternative soon enuff, Not many ppl had heard of AG when Napster was popular even thou it was around at the same time.

Personaly i put it down to people who are in the music industry that want to stop file sharing on the web are just in the buisness for the the money (not all of them im sure, but a large majority).
On the other hand you have other projucers that have nothing against file sharing, these are the people that do it for the love of music and not the MONEY. |

| they can only try to stop file sharing, but they will NEVER end this........its like trying to stop drugs....imposible..trance is a drug............. |

| Although the music may not be mainstream these guys still get payed mad cash to DJ at different parties around the world. Although artists like DJ Tiesto may not have his albums in every home around the world he makes enough money DJing to keep him well off :D and they still do make a lot of cash off their CD's since the hardcore trancers here in Canada pay upwards of 40 bucks to get a trance import album that would cost you like 15 in Europe. So the little guys may not be as little as you think ;). Although I do agree that their music should be bought and not downloaded some artists feel that it should be shared on the net while others don't so either way I agree with, depending on their reasoning. |

In a recent interview with Dj Tiesto he was asked, what he thought of the audioformat MP3, his response
"I really like it, because specially in The States and also here in Sweden it's been good for my name because my CDs are hard to get here. Well, I'm not in there for the money. I'm really glad, actually honored, that people download my music. That's a compliment I think."
and in the words of Armin Van Buuren
Don't think you'll get rich in this business. Music and money don't mix
Did you know that the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) tried to put a bill in the anti-terrorism bill that was passed by congress in October that would give them the right to hack into your computere and delete "stolen MP3s"

http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1107-504094.html?legacy=zdnn
so when you say this has nothing to do with the government, it has everything to do with the government.... I personally Hope the RIAA has alot of doh and money because mp3s WILL NEVER DIE! neither will file sharing! so grab your checkbook, grab your lawyers and the line for your lawsuites will grow because as long as there is internet and mp3s there will always be file sharing.. goto hell RIAA! it's funny how close this country is to facism. |

| Some of Tiesto's tunes are blocked off of Audio Galaxy and they claim that it's copyrighted and can not be shared. |
