Why don't you like SKY? What venue's do you prefer?

i think sky is great, just a lil too small for the pvd followers. it just depends if its oversold or not.

Its a nice Venue i agree on that, but Too small. I like Big Room places especially for someone like Paul van Dyk :disbelief.

I saw Armin last year there and it was packed like sardines:nervous:

Agreed. I'm a little scared that it'll be pretty packed on the floor. A&B earlier this month was pretty packed.

Should be a good show. First time I'll see PVD. I am hoping he'll play that mashup of Freefall - Skydive & Super8/Tab - Need to Feel (Wippenberg Remix).

Should be fun. He comes in to town tonight and has a lot of luggage.. so he's bringing his keyboards and laptop etc. so he can do all the live strings and editing he's been doing lately.

He's also playing for 3 hours FYI! ;)

12-3 <-- pvd

Its for this reason I went ahead and bought VIP tix. If it gets to packed for comfort, I have a way to still enjoy the show.

I am Jealous. Super super jealous. I live in Fort Worth, and I got to work tomorrow, and I have a doctor's appointment in the morning. :::::looking at watch:::: <-- notes time "1:38am CST" so my guess is 90% that PVD is in the middle of his set now, I can't stand to think about it, so I am just downloading Paul's 3 hr Amsterdam Music event from this weekend from torrent -- maybe ease up the pain. Grrrr. No stop to the DFW area on this tour whatsoever. And I can't be in Austin tonight for this three hour set. I can't say, I hope it sucks, because we know it's not going to. And there is never a recording made of these smaller shows. At all.

If I had the money, time, and brainpower to put it together I would try to get Paul to play at the Fort Worth convention center in late 2009 or 2010. I've thrown a medium-size party before and basically know what it takes, most of all good planning, a good crew, and lots of money. And booking way in advance. They use to throw decently good parties at the Ridglea theatre in Fort Worth but since about 2002 we have had nothing in Fort Worth for throwing a massive type gig. Jeremy Word, over in Dallas had the right idea of using large complexes used for trade shows and expos to throw some of his events, such as Fair Park and Dallas Market Hall. He properly rented the venues, got the right security and cleared everything, and had massive dance spaces for the events. The other large venue used in Dallas was the Bronco Bowl, which was also used for many other rock type concert events. Basically a a rental venue. Other large outdoor events occurred on ranches such as ZenFest and Massiv but we rarely see that anymore. Any such outdoor event is more renegade now and held so far outside the county to avoid legal issues. I think most people in the dance scene miss the large open spaces to dance that we once took for granted. The last "Lizard Lounge" show I went to was an Armin show in '06, I believe. I stayed for 5 minutes and could not tolerate the shoving and cramming games to get a digial photo, that sort of nonsense. Ridiculous. We just want a decently modest place with good sound and plenty of room to dance, and air to breath where we are not in an oven. That's all! And maybe access to clean drinking water. Simple.

Wow-- that was disappointing. Really disappointing.

I had so much hope for PVD, and I was tragically let down. The set was mediocore at best. Sorry PVD, but a none of us enjoy long 64+ bar transitions if they compose the entire set. He ended at 2:15 with a small encore which was bad. At least, Above & Beyond stayed until 3:00. According to a friend that works there, PVD left almost immediately after his set and left the VIP crowd without an afterset.

I expected much more from PVD after a spectucular show from A&B, but I must say, I can see why many TAs voted them above PVD in the top DJ list.
