Sorry for another what is your favorite thread...
I know sub-genres could be split even more, but this is as basic as i could get it. What is your favorite sub-genre in the electronic music. Just very curious how TA is split up. My guess its either uplifting or progressive house. Can't seem to get a poll working so i'm guessing you could just write it out!
categories:
(1) uplifting trance (dj tiesto, ferry corsten, Johan Gielen)
(2) hard trance (marco v, scott project, flutlicht, s.h.o.k.k.)
(3) basic trance (paul van dyk, John '00' flemming, Kimball Collins)
(4) progressive trance (christopher lawrence, paul oakenfold, D:Fuse)
(5) progressive house/trance (steve lawler, digweed, basic global underground stuff)
(6) House/groove/disco (Carl Cox, DJ Irene, Armand Van Halen)
(7) Gabber/happy hardcore (Scooter, Dune, you know what i mean)
(8) Jungle (ummm...don't know)
(9) Techno (moby maybe? timo maas, luke slater)
(10) chill trance (chicane, ayla...)
(11) others
My choice would be #1 for sure...gotta love ferry and tiesto!!!
If poll was working be so much better...but what is yours? |
you forgot:
(12) cheese trance (darude, alice deejay, vengaboys, safri duo...)
=P
i vote for:
1. (1) uplifting trance
2. (2) hard trance
3. (12) cheese trance |

You also forgot Goa and Psy Trance.
Anyway, for me:
1) Uplifting Trance
2) Techno (Speedy J, Marco Bailey, Marco Carola, Thomas Schumacher)
3) Goa (MWNN, Astral Projection, Infected Mushroom, Deviant Electronics)
4) Ambient (Global Communication, Klause Shultze, Pete Namlook, Boards of Canada, Raison D'etre) |

Progressive House/Trance.
I loved uplifting/melodic trance for 2 years. Now they just sound the same to me. :( I am sure a lot of you trance addicts who have listened to trance for this long would agree with me. Progressive takes the music into the next level. |

2) Techno (Speedy J, Marco Bailey, Marco Carola, Thomas Schumacher)

Those are pretty good examples. Just add to them Guy McAffer, Umek, Chris Liebing, Adam Beyer, and Alexander K. Katz - and the list will be perfect ;)
