i just can't understand why people keep throwing Denon gear out of the question or ignoring it ... denon lates dn1200 is superior to the CDJ400 technology wise and the same if not better in sound and build quality and costs cheaper ...
same goes for the dn-s5500 compared to the pioneer 1000, this peace of machine is way way ahead of the pioneer , hd , flash player + controller for every major software there is , seranto , traktor , pcdj you name it ...and guess what it costs less ..

most silly unforgiven answer anybody can say , "this is industry standard"

man if people like this roled the world back in the 90's you'll be still using vinyls ...

what makes industry standard is you , no one else ...

Every time I've used a denon, it's had poor platter feel compared to a Pioneer, and wasn't as good at reading beat up discs. Pioneers are the only cd players that don't give me cause for concern :) Mixers, I'm a lot more open, but pioneer cdj's are hands down the best.

about the platter feel ... are you talking about the 3500 & 5500 , man those are specially prefered amongs any old school dj who used to vinyls ... there is no one price that the denon didn't won over the pioneer in this field , there is just no comparison between the direct drive moving platter with 2.5 turk , and the plastic static platter that the pioneer offer ...

about the disk readability , they are beat up disk , you shoudn't use them at all ... but no worry , the 1200 and the 5500 both uses flash/hd drives witch eleminates this concern...

Frank simply isn't challenged enough by DJing. he uses his cd's for pets to chew on as toys. he then drenches them in gasoline and ignites them and lets them burn just long enough for it to be a nice warm mush before putting them into his cd decks. whatever sounds come out on both tracks he takes and creates massive live tracks. clearly, denon just isn't prepared enough for Frank's music.

thought everyone knew that :disbelief

frank(ly) i didn't understand your sarcasm ... but honestly i'm not trying to attack anyone , just think about it for a second and i hope you'll see what i see ... that's all

peace out

May i ask how the hell do you go about spinning at clubs without knowing anything about cdjs? And also how the hell does someone with 10 years experiance suggest denon?

On Topic:
2x CDJ 800s
1x DJM 400
+wiring, monitors, headphones, etc...

Like most DJ's, I've played (and still do on occasion play) vinyl. To me, thre isn't a motorized platter out there that accurately reproduces how a vinyl feels. I'd rather a pioneer, that never fails me, and doesn't try to replicate the spinning action.

And disc readability, even if it's not beat up, if it's burned at too fast a speed, or is a lower quality disc, there is often an issue with the Denons that there isn't with pioneers. Why should I have to worry about my music seizing up just for the sake of a poorly orchestrated spinning platter? And really...flash card technology does not strike me as being well enough refined to use in a club environment. Plus, I like to search through my CD books, not a display.

Any chance you work for Denon?

uh, no. Pioneer CDJ 1000's have been the industry standard cdj for many years now. Thats not even debatable. Every major dj on the planet lists them in their rider (meaning they refuse to play unless the club has them) and every major club has them installed.

As for Denons...I've owned both the s3000 and the 5000...both with spinning platters. I started out as a 100% vinyl dj, and didn't find their feel remotely close to that of an actual turntable.
