just wondering from those who have already gone

do: check out lesser known or less-traveling djs that you otherwise wouldn't get a chance to see.

don't: go to ultra.

do: hit at least one party at space. a lot of jaded people would say it's not worth it, likely discouraging others from the joys of the terrace.

don't: bother trying to save money. unless you're guestlisted everywhere you want to go, it's expensive. just spend and enjoy and worry about it later.

Do try to book your flight and hotel earlier. Flying into Ft Lauderdale may save around $100 bucks, but you'll pay more in shuttle/taxi.

Do try to stay in South Beach on Ocean or Collins.

Do purchase presale.

Do "try" to sleep.

Do go!

This question is for the more experienced WMC vets who have a few years under their belt...

If you were 2 party at all the best shows and venues (ie PVD/Sander Space parties, Surfcomber and Shelbourne pool parties,Tenaglia and Howells Pawnshop parties,Tiesto and Sasha+Digweed Mansion parties, other yacht parties etc) whatever your taste is, obviously you cant do all of them. Suppose you did like 7-8 parties in 5 days... how much do you think the entire trip would cost you including airfare and hotelcost if you were to book everything 3 months in advance...?

its pretty vague i know and im sure spending habits vary from one to another but i just wanna get an idea of what to expect you know...?

i know im not gonna do ultra thats for sure...:)

Don't book a hotel you've never stayed in. Do book hotels that friends have stayed in. There is a huge unbelievable difference between a $200 a night hotel and a $300 night hotel, don't find out the hard way. And don't believe the reviews on travel sites. There's some sort of moratorium put in place by the south beach art deco historical society that some hotels cannot be rehabilitated, and they are total roach motels. It's definitely worth every penny to stay at a nicer more expensive hotel. Always call the hotel and ask what kind of air conditioning systems they have in the room. If its a window unit, dont stay there. trust me on that.

Dont split a room with more than one person...you'll kill each other. You also don't want to club around in big groups because usually its hard to get everyone in together.

Every year when I get there I always go to the walgreens near Collins and 17th with a huge backpack and stock up on things like food, water, tylenol, alcohol, etc. You can save a load of money this way...and pregaming is a fine art that should be learned by all. Drinks in Miami are $20 in some places.

Don't plan anything and don't buy tickets unless you absolutely know you will never forgive yourself for not attending that event or seeing that dj. Every year I sit down and plan what im going to go to every day, I end up going to maybe 1 thing I originally planned. Some of the best parties are the free ones or the ones you just happen to walk past. Steer clear of mega clubs unless you have tickets and plan to show up early or buy a table...you could end up standing outside in a vanity line for hours otherwise.

Pace yourself and don't overdo it your first day or your second day will be totally ruined. If you are puking by 9pm the first night, you've gone too far.

Don't get drunk and fall asleep on the beach, sunburn happens.

The restaurants on Ocean drive are awesome and I recommend trying as many of them as you can, especially the ones that have drink specials.

Split cabs to downtown and back.

Stay twice as long as you originally planned, every other day will probably be a recovery day.

Doormen can be paid off.

ive done wmc 3 times now and i personally live at space at the shelborne pool parties. i know others may not agree with that but for me its personally what i love about wmc and those 2 places host the best events for house/trance events in my opinion. 2 years ago when i went i got an unbelieveable deal for my hotel on collins for a week for $1000 which was 2 double beds for 3 people (and no it wasnt a hole) and paid around $250 for my flight so it ended up being dirt cheap for that. and i usualy plan on club covers/pool parties/event tickets costing around $350-400 to be on the safe side. then all the rest i save up for as much spending $ as possible...i usually have brought around $1500 for the week once all other things were paid for but id try and bring a bit more if possible.

This is a tip is HUGE!

flying to FLL is MUCH, MUCH cheaper than flying to MIA
sweetcandy girl
There are some very good pointers here!!!

DO'S:

When getting presales get them mailed to you

If you are a guy and you are going to Mansion make quick friends with Girls in line you will get in faster

Go to the beach and go into the water

When flying into FLL do a search for Cheep airport shuttles found one last year that took us back for $17

Do room with more then 1 person and make sure you know them. Cuts the hotel cost down by a bunch

When you get there get a WMC guide there will be so many parties that you did not read on the msg boards and some are free!

Do try to eat at least once a day!

Do get a pitcher at Nikki Beach

Take lots of pictures

Pre-drink be before heading out

Be prepared to spend $$$

Try to stay in south beach a day or 2 after WMC

Try to find a direct flight

DONT's

Do not buy your party favors over there! UPS Ground what you need

Like some one said Don't go to ultra!!! BIG WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!

Do not forget a list of what to pack and do not forget a jacket or Umbrella!

Be Rude to the door people or bouncers in the club.

Forget to take a day or 2 off after WMC to recover. Flying back and going right back to work SUCKS!!!!

Don't forget to explore

Don't expect 5 star service at any place you eat. Most waiters don't even care or are down right rude.

Do not use your credit card when you eat at some restaurants or at the club. They will put the tip on right away!

dont go to ultra!

must go to space & nikki beach

if its ur first time, id rent a car. cabs are expensive, and you will want to explore. I got one my first year, and rented a van this time. Between 10 of us its only $50 each for an entire week.

Must Do day parties!!

Get presale, but dont over do it. I wasted many tickets, but was so happy i had a couple.

Im staying til tuesday march 31st. A couple extra days to recover could be some of the best all week.

Do a dope Sunday party, perhaps sunday school. Last year i Did mauro picotto at prive sunday night, and it was top 2 of the entire week. All the hardcore cats are still going sunday.

pace your self

If your single, wander out at least one night by yourself, you will meet more strangers and find yourself.

my flight to fll was $150 cheaper then Miami, and if you are renting a car as i previously suggested, then it doesnt really matter.
