President Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (pg. 4)

I think the most important thing about this election that really hasn't been expressed in other elections (or least recently in other elections) is that this country is at a crossroad in many areas and the WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING...this is a time where instead of splitting, we work together...

I give credit to McCain for encouraging rep's work with dem's and then in Baraks speech he admitted that he wants to be everyone's President, whether he got their vote or not...

Those are words of a leader, not a politician...i think that in itself is a huge change from past so-called leaders...and i think more people then not want to see him succeed so i think hes gonna get good advice and hes not gonna make rash decisions...

im hopeful he'll be a good leader...he ran an excellent campaign and reached out to people that would not or have not voted before and thats a huge accomplishment...

but change starts from the bottom up, not the top down...and i think that is what he meant by the (this wont change in 1 year or 1 term)

I think its always good to get in new people from different parties because it provides balance for the country

Random impressions:

As a Philadelphian, I know that miracles can happen. Twice, in the same week.

It was nice hearing the Haverford College kids whooping and hollering last night.

It is mind blowing that I spent 3 years volunteering for an organization he founded & have heard him speak at a packed south side Chicago church. Back then he was only known in Chicago. He seemed destined for great things back then, but I never imagined the presidency. The church women of Developing Communities Project must be overcome with joy and pride right now.

Can't wait to talk to my friends in Chicago. The party there must have been incredible.

exactly, and his speech was deff very inspireing and hopefull
but one of the most important things he said was:
"The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term"

i give him credit for not bulling us by saying there is a quick fix, he is honest

+1

Politicians are bull artists, esp our current pres, and its refreshing to see someone not sugarcoating as well as asking help from the other parties.

I wouldn't take any advice from a Wachovia employee.

That Wachovia employee should be doing something other than lobbying for McCain. Especially with Wachovia losing over $1 billion through subprime mortgage lending & being bought out by Citicorp. I think any missive sent out by a Wachovia employee would be to reassure people that they won't lose the money they have in Wachovia Bank.

Appreciate you sharing the email though.

FYI: The citi corp deal got canceled, they got bought out by wells fargo. But ur correct on the other part

Lord, you speak like cutting tons of taxes was a good idea. Yes, Bush cut taxes, but our schools are a mess, our bridges and roads are a mess, our levees (New Orleans) were a mess, and the things our country needed most were not provided for.

Lowering taxes while increasing spending... I'm not a Wachovia employee but that just doesn't "add up", and we've seen this in the past 8 years. Our infrastructure's gone to , and if paying more taxes means we'll live in a better United States Of America, then man up and pay up. It's common sense that our country can't fix itself without raising taxes. We're in a hole because of many things, including the Bush tax cuts, so this is where the "real Americans" can take part in bringing this country back.

That was a great quote you put up because all those things Cicero listed required him raising taxes, with exception to "welfare" programs as he says in the last part of the quote. Many aspects of Roman society would be seen as socialist nowadays, so that quote together with the Wachovia guy's email pretty much cancel each other out.

I'm not on the front lines claiming Obama's gunna be the best thing that happened to this country. But I'm just saying, you're a fool if you think this country won't right itself without raising taxes.... Not to mention, those numbers Mr. Wachovia mentioned are a bit sketchy.

For anyone *not* pleased with the election results, you really only have Bush to thank. No one really knows what Obama is/isn't capable of. He has yet to prove himself. The results of this election are a testament to Bush's complete failure with this country more than they are a testament to anything Obama has said or done within the past year+. I'm sure MOST of the people in this country who voted for him weren't completely ecstatic about it. I'd say they were simply a lot less ecstatic about the prospects of a potential Palin presidency, or another 4 years that would potentially reflect the past 8. Bush, ironically, paved the way for Obama's win. His repeated failures added more and more fuel for the Democrats. None of this would have been made possible if it weren't for the idiots who voted Bush in for a second term. I think some 'thank you' letters are in order :happy2:
