Well not really. You get insane pleasure from an orgasm. It's completely different.
It's actually not a bad question but Halcyon has answered it pretty well. I know that the first time I made out with a girl I found it a bit weird too but you get used to it as you get older and see the need for it. |

i think the answer is far simpler. that is, because it's pleasurable. by why would this pleasure seeking be a trait that humans have? i think it's because when one kisses another, one is essentially tasting another. now, why would that matter? kissing (read tasting) someone is one way of learning something about the one another, namely, their health or lack of. there are many diseases that cause bad taste in the mouth (see list below).

as to why only humans do it, i think it's simply because of natural selection. humans do it, chimps don't. but then again, chimps pick over each other and we don't. just the way we've evolved.

Not at all.
Kissing was not common to most human cultures until quite recently (thank you, Hollywood :p), and I don't even think it is pleasurable. If anything, the reason why we kiss is not to be explained by the sensation, but by its meaning.
When you kiss someone, in our culture, it means you're building an affective bond, and you're in a very vulnerable position, showing how much you trust the other person. That's probably why the king kissed his knights in the Middle Ages, as far as I'm concerned, and members of the same sex kiss(ed) one another in different cultures, as a sign of trust (not unlike our handshake).
I mean,
Do you guys really think the kiss in this poster has anything to do with reproduction? If you think it's gay, step out of our culture for a minute ;) |
