I have to agree! And Im not even a Star Trek fan!

I watched a season or two of Next Generation when I was a kid, but never really got into it. But this trailer really sparks interest! That and the fact that its produced by J.J. Abrams!

Made you to look! Sci-fi is not for everyone but when you look how long the series has been on tv though its various series and major motion pictures, there is no denying that the world loves Star Strek. A lot of technological inventions that are around today were inspired by this show that began in the 60's, and the idea of a united multi-cultural society venturing into the unknown is not retarded.

JJ Abrams is behind some of the most innovative and successful tv shows of the last 7 years, in case you didn't know. He dares to stir up the imagination just like Chris Carter did with the X-files and Star Trek is the biggest what if? in the last 40 years.

Lost (abc)18+ million retards have been wondering wtf? for 5 seasons.
Fringe (fox)30 million retards watch this every tuesday
Alias (abc) The idea of a hot ass female kicking ass on a weekly basis made me fall in love with Jennifer Garner.

He had us all googling to figure out Cloverfield so he had me at Space when I saw this trailer. Yes, am a freaking nerd!

Have to agree. The World does love star trek. Never really watched an episode myself but played the hell outta the pinball machine. Anyways, I tell someone my name is Kirk and it's Kurt. I tell anyone from anywhere in the World my name is Kirk, like Capt. kirk from Star Trek and they know it instantly.

Anyways, this movie seems like it might be interesting. Seems like it gives the character backstories. I might check it out. Just had to chime in being Capt Kirk and all. :toothless

Don't want to sound like too much of a dork...but this movie just looks like a big bull hollywood action movie made to appeal to the masses without maintaining the real integrity of the "Star Trek" legacy. I think the cast looks great, but I can't stand J.J. Abrams. He's found a way to hook an audience without out challenging them. He's great at building suspense but it's not subtle. It's right in you're face so no one can miss it, and he drags it out as long as he can. He has no faith in his audience to let them think and figure stuff out for themselves. I've tried everyone of his shows (wouldn't do Cloverfield though) and they all just frustrate the out of me because he tries so hard to keep you hooked but gives you no real substance. I have to see this for sure but I just know it's gonna bug me. But since I know what to expect...maybe I can enjoy it for what it is. Sorry if I seem hostile but I'm a bit of a film and TV critic. My girlfriend and roommate are film school grads which doesn't really help. Don't even get me started on Star Wars since 1997 :whip:

hahahaha! i hope he is considering the vast amount of liturature it aludes to, physics/religion/philosophy it deals with, and archtype/historical/literary characters it features unsubstantial.
