what are the secrets of trance hi-hats? :-P

I've been learning music production for about 2 years now but still
there is one thing i can never get right, and thats how to create
a good trance hi-hat pattern, ive tried listening to songs and figuring
it out but seems too hard for some reason, they use delay or something?

Are there any good resources on programming trance beats? ive been
searching for a while, including this forum, but i only seem to find
the basic, kick, bass, hi-hat offset combo.

the best i achieved so far was taking the basics and adding a closed
hi-hat on every beat and using sidechaining to give it a little bit
of rhythm, makes the beat flow more but still sounds a little crappy :-)

one genre that does not has secrets when it comes to hihats is trance. just put in between the kicks and all the white people will dance.

Pretty much all dance music is in 4/4, including house and techno, which were invented by black people.

;)

i mean the 4*4 beat with hihats between and obvious breaks, wasnt talking about signature.
