Well of course tis taking you forever, that just means that its good. If you understand everything about it from the moment you get it, it just means that the technology behind it is too old and its worthless :p You'll learn to love it soon enough and then you wont know how you ever lived without it.
But if not, get the touch pro, it has a full qwerty keyboard. |

Pros: Great Blackberry addition to the Sprint line
Cons: No MMS Picture capability
Summary: Ok..I'm not going to harp on all the things I like, because there are a bunch and they've already been discussed by the review. The biggest, and I mean BIG, drawback is the lack of true picture mail functionality. To send a picture mail you have to send it like you would an email, which is fine if you just want to send it to an email address. If you want to send it out to your friend's cell, as most people would want to do, you have to know the carrier your friend uses and their email format required to send a email to their phone.
Sprint's stance is that the phone supports multimedia messaging as advertised, because it receives MMS Picturemail, but then gives you a link where you have to go online and look at the photo. Sending...not so much.
Trying to talk to Sprint gives you nothing. They say the reason they can't do it is Research In Motion's fault. Go to RIM's website and look up the problem on the support site, and they say to contact the carrier to configure their functionality which supposedly works.
I know it's one feature, but if you talk to any Sprint salesperson over the phone or at the store, they say it does Picture Mail. You go to the Sprint website and they claim the same thing. This is blatantly wrong. |
like, are you ing kidding me? i can't just take a picture and send it directly to someone's phone? |

Ditto this and ill add an absolutely yes to it.
And I would reccomend a Qwerty keypad. I don't if the Pearl is or isn't. |
The Pearl has a QWERTY keypad but it's two letters to each button. They use a program called SureType (essentially a predictive text) but the database is huge and it's pretty much always right. I prefer the Pearl to the Curve because I have fat fingers and the larger buttons on the pearl are easier for me... and I can type with one thumb better then two. That said, I may switch once the Javelin comes out (essentially the curve with the Bold's screen and both WiFi and GPS). |

my major gripe is that i really can't see myself getting used to SureType, and the qwerty keyboard isn't really full qwerty since you have to press most of the keys twice to type the 2nd letter on the key. |
it sounds like you're on the multi-tap function... switch to sure-type (hit the blackberry/menu key when in a typing application such as memo pad or sms, then highlight the "enable SureType" option, click on it and all will be better). |

I've had opportunity to use the Storm quite a bit in the past few months. If you do a lot of typing then you'll probably want to go with a Bold or Javelin (once it's released) then the Storm. It's cool and all but typing on a touch-screen sucks. Granted, the Storm is better then the i-phone in terms of virtual keyboard but it still isn't as good as actually having keys. If you really must have a touch screen blackberry then I'd recommend waiting for the next generations; which will have a slide out keyboard and WiFi. |

No-one has mentioned Sony Ericsson Xperia X1?
Is already out in the UK, should be out in the US soon. |
I've had mine just over a week, best phone I have ever owned :D
And the BB Pearl is hardly a smarphone anyway :p
If you are totally against the idea of a touch screen, I'd reccomend the HTC S740
http://www.htc.com/www/product/s740/overview.html

HTC Touch Pro / Sony Xperia X1 / HTC Touch HD are where it's at with WM devices :D |

Yup I agree typing is sort of hard when it comes to touchscreen qwerty keypads but if you try to do it regularly you eventually get used to it my buddy has an iphone and he txts all the time while driving..........Im just waiting to see the bb storm to come out and then I'll decide if to go with Blackberry storm or HTC Touch Pro......Another thing I would like to say to all iphone users that if you have an iphone and if you dont jailbreak it or know the benefits of jailbreaking your iphone then you deserve to have it. |

lol I was going to say the same thing. :)
Gareth: How is the keyboard? All the reviews hated it. |

| squirrelly |
| I'm not techy enough for that . I have a chocolate, and I don't even use it for the music space or whatever it's for, I just like how simple the phone is. When it stops working, I'll get another plain phone. ONE time I got some fancy phone with a computer keypad, and realized I texted faster with T9, and I blew $350 on that crap. Never again! |
