Holy Christ! What a fest of haters. I'm certainly not a Justice super fan, but if you think any of what they do or Daft Punk does "live" is actually live, you're mistaken. It's all preprogrammed to the exact second...the knobs they twittle for efx is about as off the cuff as it gets. So seriously, if the contoller is not plugged in and the end result of what you hear is nearly identical...is the realization that they're suddenly not "live" because you saw this pic give you the credibility to criticize them? The criticism should have started long ago It seems like when someone hits their peak, the slinging starts. It's ricockulous.

As a side note, the assclown pictured is actually not the talented one in the group, so he could be shoving glowsticks up his rear on stage and it wouldn't matter.

Most of you were probably going to see them on nye so who cares, seriously?

Let's stick to constructively criticizing and complimenting our fellow locals so we.can all grow collectively. Making a judgment about some snapshot without all the details just makes us all look bad...not to mention, unless they're playing real instruments or building and/or playing songs on the fly, it's not "live" to me.

focus on music instead of angst?

Matthias, you're probably one of the more technical locals here and I figured you would definitely understand where I'm coming from as you play on 3 decks and you're certainly not afraid to share your opinion.:)

All I'm saying is that when people see someone perform, they either are an artist themselves, so they meticulously study what the talent onstage is doing, or they're just there for the music and don't really care what's happening as long as they like what they hear. There are a few that want both music and the technical aspect...but it's not like Justice has changed anything in the last year or more that they've toured...so why start hating now suddenly because the reality set in that their live show is not "live" from some pic a person took? It's just retarded. The hate should have started a long time ago.

Whenever there's a chance to stir drama or a chance to hate, the messageboards all over the world become like feeding frenzies...it's just so asinine.

We're a messageboard full of deejays and producers...so I guess I'm just pissed off that we should be exercising more preemptive hating and not this jump on the bandwagon hating.

Who's the next artist we're going to tear into? Let's do it before they hit the top.:toocool:

all of that long, drawn out, and slightly incoherent post would've made sense if people realized they were faking their sets since the beginning. therefore, this "bandwagon hate" or whatever you're talking about would've happened earlier had justice been busted out when they first started performing; because no one, musician or average listener, respects a performer who doesn't actually perform. that's why air-guitar bands aren't on the billboard top 200.

obviously when the average person goes to a show they don't expect it to be faked or pre-recorded, so when a messageboard full of djs and producers such as ourselves see ridiculous bull like this, then of course the first emotion is to disapprove- no one is jumping on a "bandwagon" when it's apparent to all of us that they're not at all taking an artform (that we all respect, create and perform) seriously.

a better example of this "bandwagon hating" that you've coined would be the deadmau5 drama that TA seems to be eating up lately.

why play an unplugged electric guitar on stage? that doesn't deserve to be on stage ;)

The bandwagon hate I was referring to was in regards to a similar photo that surfaced from a Justice show about 8 months ago. I read about it on a hipster blog, but I haven't had luck trying to find it via google right now.

In regards to what you're stating about them not taking an artform seriously...my whole point is...how can people hate on these guys for not being "live" when Daft Punk or anyone else is just like them? Granted, they forgot to plug their cords in, it makes them look foolish...but how many major acts do you know that are truly "live"?

Easy answer, showmanship and performance tactics. Look at Peter Hook's dj sets.

With your logic, why should anyone be on stage when they're really not playing anything? Once again, it boils down to who is there for what they hear coming out of the speakers vs. who is there for what the technical aspect behind the console is. I think it's absolutely crappy these guys get the recognition they do with the snowjob they pull on people...but people are there for their music I guess.

You know how many major "live" acts would have no careers if people were only going to see them for the technical side?

It's ironic that most of these acts like Crystal Method and Justice are more live when they're dj'ing.

wait, are you defending "artists" who fake it?

Absolutely not. I'm saying that it's ridiculous to criticize artists who we already know aren't live.

I just think it's silly to act outraged and shocked as if we had no idea this was going on.

You thought they were live prior to this picture? For shame.
