you obviously know next to nothing about this part of earth so it should be entertainingly stupid.
hint: open up a walmart won't work. |
Yes I forgot your very fluent of all things in arctic regions and all native peoples' cultures. They can't possibly utilize a more abundant and renewable food source, as it must be whale meat to survive  |

| I think you're the heartless bastard. You'd prefer people starve than kill some animals. |

i am familiar with it, i have been to Nunavut when i was in cadets as a young teen. There is nothing ing there...i have also eaten whale. It is gross, but if i was hungry and needed to survive i would eat it.
lets go...solution time. Quit stalling, there are many lulz to be had at the stereotypical everywhere on earth is like america yeah response.
this is not hunting for sport, it is hunting for survival. |

We're the complete opposite, we actually understand the situation whereas you're sitting back and trying to preach while not understanding what actually goes on in various different cultures. Also, you really think that they're going to go extinct simply because a small group of indigenous villagers eat them? Perhaps you forgot this little piece of information...

Additionally, the culled whales are all from the Eclipse Sound area of Baffin Island. There were approximately 500 whales killed. The Eclipse Sound area has a population of approximately 21,000 Narwhales.
...
Most if not all of the culled whales would have died of suffocation if not hunted as the hunting holes were the only air holes available to them... this is a traditional method of hunting for the Inuit; meaning, they only kill whales that would have been trapped and died anyway. |
Now sit down. |

| guys let;s not forget the article doesn't denounce the hunting of narwhales but rather the large number that were on this particular occasion. |
|

you do realize that they would have died anyways from lack of air right?
the worrying fact should not be about the number hunted, but why these animals are migrating to areas that will lead to their death regardless of hunters. |

Well the article does also mention that Canada could have brought in ice-breakers to help the whales escape. Anyway I'm guessing these are shelves of ice that drifted away and are in places they should not be? |

so hunting that has been going on for centuries is not natural, but bringing in ice breakers to save an animal is?
playing god even for greenpeace is gay. |

While allowing the natives to continue as they've always done would've cost nothing. |
