Mark Knight & Funkagenda's "Arena" steal the melody from Andy Ling - Fixation? (pg. 2)

Az
their track "runnin'" is a rip off of 'you don't know me' as well. Awful.

instead of 'ripping off' as you say, which i don't think they are as instead of 'ripping off' as you say, which i don't think they are as they arent copying and making it sound 'similar', they are sampling tracks and adding their own tech-house sound to it like arena, shogun etc. A lot of other djs / producers do it on a daily basis.

hopefully Borislav can pick up on this, then we can have a challenge for number of threads to rival t3h Mau5!

Shogun : Notes: "Shogun" contains a sample from Jason Jinx featuring Paul Alexander "Your First Time" used courtesy of Defected Records Ltd.

i suggest you let someone update discogs before you accuse people of 'stealing' or even better, better your English and grasp the meaning of some words

leebates1986, as you say - it's a "Fixation" cover made by Mark Knight & Funkagenda (

). Why they didn't give a credit to Angy Ling? Or they should call it Fixation Remix, don't you think so? :)

Shame on anyone who calls out these producers for 'stealing/ripping off' tracks especially if you happen to be one of those people who never buys any music and gets stuff from the warez. When you BUY CDs, tapes, records, etc. You look at this little thing called the credits where it explicitly states where an original piece came from, what was sampled, the original artist, etc.

If it happened to be lifted from another track without consent, this would have been off download portals ASAP and a storm would have spread to the 4 corners of the internet.

Also, it really sucks when alot of the trance newbies that came into the scene after the 2004/2005 internet revolution make these observations so quick after their 'favorite' DJ has been playing the tracks

DJ Tiesto - Adagio For Strings

Why didn't he call it Samuel Barbers Adagio For Strings (DJ Tiesto Remix)

because they don't have to, pay for a sample, you can do as you wish with it to a certain extend, you have bought the rights. so this thread may aswell be deleted as you have your answer, probs a few more than to what you originally asked too

At least he still calls it Adagio for Strings. Calling Fixation --> Arena and You Don't Even Know Me ---> Runnin' is just trying to pass it off as your original creation.

Haha you don't need to pirate music to hear it, i just went and listened to the sample for free ;)

What a horrid excuse for a 'Fixation' remix, im glad it doesnt get credited because it really doesnt deserve to be. The notes are slightly changed, its not 100% identical but essentially the same.

The original is so mad :D

Tiesto credited Samuel Barber on every Adagio For Strings release though
it says "Written and composed by Samuel Barber" on all the copies

where do you what them to credit it? on discogs from a beatport mp3?

im sure like americanchild said if its on a cdm credits will be given, its the law

Borislav
Okay, here's the discogs page of this sh*t - http://www.discogs.com/release/1478833. Andy Ling doesn't appear to be credited. Let's say its ok, but is there anyone who bought the CD? (Actually is this track available on CD?). Anyway, I wouldn't call this COVER of "Fixation". It's a complete plagiarism. It's so bad that some of todays "guru's" of electronic music do that again and again Man With The Red Face, Arena.. umm.. what's next?

you dont get credits in mp3's do you, hence why there is nothing on discogs, moment cd is avail there will be, you are still missing the point that they haven't stole this and not giving any credit, what do they have to do, mention andy ling in every interview, everytime they play the track get on the mic and shout 'THANK YOU ANDY LING!'

and its not plagiarism, check the other releases on discogs, credit is given

Shogun : Notes: "Shogun" contains a sample from Jason Jinx featuring Paul Alexander "Your First Time" used courtesy of Defected Records Ltd

as it has been said, for this to be on sale, means the sample was cleared by andy / his label, you are missing the point completely here that 'they have stolen this and called it their own'

learn how sampling tracks / label issues etc work
