, I walked 15 blocks through Newark every other night to get to the path station, and no one ever gave me an ounce of grief.

Don't get me wrong, it looks like the projects. =P

You're from Jersey?

i took classes at rutgers in newark while an undergrad. i used to park my car on boyden right next to the PJs. one day while walking back to my car someone was shot, in the middle of the day, a few cars from mine. I was also threatended (nothing serious, just crack heads) a few times while walking to my car late at night.

As bad as the cities in NJ may be, nothing compares to Detroit.

Yup, I lived all over Jersey while I was there; Toms River, Freehold, Islen, Newark for college for 3 years (NJIT).

The guy across the hallway from me in Newark murdered his wife, and she was dead for two weeks before anyone found out; I wondered why the hallway smelled like old Chinese food.

I also hear Newark has an exceptional mayor now. :)

no ...I live in Bayonne, lived in Barnegat for some time, and also lived in Toms River for a little (my mom and grandparents still live there).

Cory Booker is a pretty bright guy. unfortunately for him his constituency isn't much to work with.

think like 3 of New Jersey's counties are in the top 10 richest counties in the country. NJ has some of the safest towns, and the most unsafe.

haha nahhh because even in the "safe" areas, you got angry, drunk guido's who puck fights with anybody and everybody. They are worse than the gangsta's imo, because they will fight you for nothing at all, where as gangsta's will usually shoot you if you are in a gang or steal their drug money.
:stongue: :haha:

jerz: you know the sad thing is, those pictures probably have houses with people living in them. Got lost in camden myself once and I was shocked to see LIGHTS on in these boarded up houses. eek. :nervous:

we have a 7% sales tax on almost everything, except clothing and perhaps unprepared food. The sales tax is 3.5% in certain towns: JC, Newark, Bayonne, Elizabeth, Trenton, AC (i think), etc....

I wouldn't be surprised if he was governor of NJ or in a higher office in a few years. He's definitely a bright spot in NJ politics.
