Not at all. I just prefer to see a big time compilation such as GU with a tracklist that has something a little more fresh. If this came out in November or even December that's one thing. But pushing February 09 with:

Exactly. I'm not even near pissed off at all as much as I am disappointed with just how low this series has sunk. If I was pissed, you would've seen a quite angrier post in which I would be cursing at the level of Bering Sea fisherman.

Exactly. GU was once known for being a "fresh", genre-breaking compilation, not a series that will have music on it that has been out for at least a year and, in the case of Underworld, more than a decade.

That's aside the point. Sure, it may be what he likes and what he wants to include in a mix, but what he wants isn't what made the GU series so fantastic and relevant.
My whole point here is, find someone who is actually breaking ground and spinning something fresh, like GU used to, or stop putting out compilations. |

| You guys are being really dense right now IMHO. Howell's GU was one of the best compilations has ever put out imo and yet he had a Tantra track on the first disk that was produced in 1979. I really hate this whole "lets judge a track/tracklist by the year the stuff was produced" mentality. |

Let me clarify here...
1.) There's a difference. Hell, I've been spinning Trancesetters - Roaches (Peace Division Remix) in my sets quite a bit recently. I take it on a case-by-case basis. Just read Woscars post below.
2.) We're not judging the track/tracklist. It looks just fine. We're judging the fact that GU is no longer relevant and doesn't put out the quality and "fresh" music that it once used to.
3.) Pay attention, you would've known that it was about #2 if you had. |

Yes, the difference between this and the Danny Howells GU was that those tracks although old, weren't hammered to death and Danny dug out deeper than Dubfire to find them. In the sleeve notes he says it took him seven years to find a copy of it.
I know where you stand on the old tracks thing, but c'mon...to compare this release with Danny's is going too far don't you think? |

That is a completely invalid comparison.
And if Emerson likes those tunes more than everything new hes heard, he either
A) Sucks at looking for new music
B) Has taste
C) Lives under a rock and only gets a few weak promos sent to:

I misunderstood then, by idoru's wording I thought he meant "fresh" as in mint/promo/not released yet music and not the quality or amount of creativity. idoru also did mention the Underworld track being over a decade old, as if it caused it's quality to be inferior to any other track. I personally think it's a great intro track.
And by no means am I comparing this to Miami, I just don't think it's fair to judge a tracklist by when the tracks were released. |

For the zillionth time, we're not judging the tracklist as much as we're judging the quality of GU in comparison to its history. Haven't you understood that yet? |
