| To be honest this tracklist doesn't really look promising at all, it's not appealing to me... |

| First off, I say don't judge a mix just by its tracklisting. Second, don't judge until you've heard the mix. Third, a lot of DJs focus way too hard on having new and exclusive tracks and they forget that their mix actually isn't very cohesive or good at all. Fourth, I'm glad Darren didn't turn his GU into a shameless self promotional tool for Underworld like James Lavelle did for UNKLE. |

Hmm I will make the same argument I made towards Luciano's Fabric CD. That is, there would be nothing at all to complain about if this was a freely distributed mix, i.e. like a promo mix. But remember, money will be charged for this product. I think this brings us to another argument, which is:
When one purchases a mixed compilation, does one do so for their interest in the entire package, i.e. the mixing and the 70 or so minutes of uninterrupted music, or does one do so in order to hear new music to which they were nor previously exposed.
The obvious answer is a mix of both, but to which side do people lean more? Personally, I'd rather an unmixed CD with new content over a mixed CD with largely previously released content. I personally would not consider my money to be well spent on a CD if in 2009 it still includes many tracks I heard in 2008 and even in 2007.
Then there's the last point I would like to make. I'll admit that I haven't read al the responses but there could be 2 arguments concering this compilation: is it a good mixed compilation OR is it a good product. Remember, value is the most important attribute attached to a product.
So in the end, it's about what you expect when you buy a mixed compilation and about what you consider to be a good value. |

Hence why you should find a compilation that successfully finds a balance of both. Darren, while perhaps possibly pulling off some nice mixing, failed on coming up with some sort of "groundbreaking" mix that GU was known for. Normally I wouldn't care what a tracklist for a set of his looked like, but because it's on a compilation that was supposed to push some sort of a boundary when clearly it's not, I have a problem with it.

What sort of mix of Underworld tunes could Darren possibly put together that wouldn't be just another collection of classic Underworld material that people have heard a million times already? Like Bas said, he hasn't had anything to do with them for approximately a decade, so any and all new material produced since then has absolutely zero relevance to him.
