Doesn't it annoy u that soo many artists/DJs have changed their music/style over the years and have made themselves less appealing???
I miss Sven Vath's old style and his sets from OMEN as well as Dubfire, and Steve Lawler who have changed BIG time.
lets not forget Sasha and Digweed who use to be amazing but now suck
And whats up with DJs playing that boring minimal nowadays?
Feel free to post sets and videos from back in the day :D

I love a lot of the minimal sound that dominates various aspects of EDM; some of it is too 'minimal' for me but a lot of it is sweeeeet ;)
petro
people still listen to minimal?
kaniz
Yes, because it's much better for artists to be stuck in the past and re-hashing the same sound from 10 years ago. Far more interesting.
But true, lots of DJs are playing boring minimal. Not that minimal is boring ( I rather like it), but alot of DJs just happen to play the boring stuff.

If DJs stuck with their oldschool styles people would bitch about the artist's sound not evolving.
ty situation sometimes but what can ya do
Jeff Button
The only 'old school' I miss is Hip-Hop from the golden era (93-96).
Other than that, in with the new, out with the old I say.

Change is always good but I'd prefer it if DJs/artists played/produced better music.
I mean, look at Sven Vath back in the day and look at him now; he changed BIG time...really boring stuff.

LoL @ S&D "suck". You are so far off the beaten path. S&D do not "suck", they simply do not play Progressive House/Trance anymore. Likewise, with most Artists/DJ's they evolve as the times change. I personally cannot stand S&D's new sound but thats because I've always been a huge obsessive progressive fan and that will NEVER change. Unfortunately people still think they play "Progressive" but the genres have been so bastardized over the years that what was once "Progressive Trance" can now be labeled "Progressive House" etc. It would have been nice to see them branch off of their "Original" sound that made them popular in the 90's but they never really blew me away in the Production side of things. I wouldn't even be surprised if Sasha didn't produce Xpander back in the day but rather just marketed under himself through the collaboration of other artists. Much like the thread about Joachim Garraud & David Guetta. Don't get me wrong though, this is just speculation. Anyways, they have moved on and unfortunately so have many others.
As far is Minimal is concerned, its always been here its just never been incredibly popular in North America. As with most things we tend to take far too long to adopt things from the other side of the world. I tend to think we go through far more fads than most other Continents ie. Electro.

charlie may has always been heavily involved (pun intended) in production for sasha, spooky a bit too. don't think his work was ever totally ghostwritten though
