Fantastically put together set and a few very strong tunes. I felt overall though that most of the tunes were quiet commercial sounding and lacking impact as a result.

Thanks for the listen and the comments mate...which tunes do you think sounded too commercial?
Amduscias
:gsmile: I'm with sushi, i liked how it flowed into prog.

:( I guess i should tell you what i think of it.

Gripper To Yohkoh .... IMO too abrupt --- exactly why i can't use gripper :haha: cuz i can't find a proper way out of it.

From The Case to Elif was also a pretty good transition that made me moooveeee :p

MOONRAKER OMG :eyespop: i think i came 7 times to the transtion :stongue:

-- winner transition of the whole set for me!

ing loved the beginning of the whole set also :p

Will keep it definetly, very good job! :toothless

Thanks for listening mate, and glad you liked it. Actually, I think the transition into Moonraker and then the one into Paper Jet were the best programmed transitions of the set, cool that you think so too :)

So here are my reactions. I was typing them on a notepad as the set was being played out and I was just screwing around on the computer:

Love 1st track

1st transition: beautiful, works especially well that way when it's the beginning of the set I find. I don't know why some of the other users complained. I thought it was very subtle and on point.

2nd transition: nice but the end of it is a bit abrupt

3rd transition: works great

I really like the Freiflug, a lot

4th transition: quite pleasant but Freiflug did end a bit abruptly though.

5th transition: perfect for the most part, just that I would have kicked in the low end on Gripper a couple seconds later

Gripper is also a great track!

6th transition: was perfect for me

ing love Yohkoh but I didn't realize it until now! I heard it here and there but I guess it never really caught on. Now though that I'm really paying attention I realize what a great track this is.

7th transition: Would have probably done it the exact same way
About Moonraker, you know I always kinda thought the vocals were a bit lame, but that the rest of the track was pretty awesome. Eventually I heard the Spencer Parker remix though, and I thought it was better.

8th transition: the transition istself was good but you should have maybe tried to blend the low end gradually as well. I guess you did this before you got the VCI so doing so at the same time would have been pretty hard.

9th transition: again, gotta watch that EQing. I bet you are though now that you have the Vestax.

10th transition: perfectly executed as far as I am concerned

Really digging Flamenco Loco

To be honest I didn't notice the 11th transition so that must mean it
got the job done quite well:)

12 transition was probably the best one in the whole mix actually.

Alright. So overall I enjoyed the mix. Definitley a vibe I enjoy.
Personally, and I am talking personal music taste here, I like the tracks in the 1st part better, since they're a little techier. The mixing in the second part was tighter, however. I read some of the other user comments and noticed that a recurring suggestion is that you mix in your tracks earlier. This is probably the reason I felt the way I did concerning some of the
transitions. I was definitley feeling the atmosphere shoft you were trying to create, I think you succeeded in that. I think that, as the others have mentiond, if you mix in your tracks earlier you will have room for more tracks in your set. With more tracks you can develop the atmosphere a lot better.

Anyway I'm sure most of this is irrelevant by now as you got your VCI and you're probably already mixing much better. All in all though, I enjoyed this mix. Should have probably checked it out a lot sooner as I am quite late to the party but I am glad I did it now rather than never.

Thanks a lot for the lenghty, detailed review. These are the reviews I really look forward to getting whenever I make a mix because they let me know what are the points that need improvement and help me concentrate on those. :)

Yeah, I mixed this before I got the midi controller. The fact that I'm working with actual hardware now has helped me a lot to advance on my mixing skills, specially on EQing. I still have a LOT to learn though, so your comments are not irrelevant at all. ;)

Thanks for listening Adam, and expect a new mix soon. I've been working on it since the last week of 2008 but between work and other stuff I haven't had as much time as I would like.

Cheers!

Final bump before I actually begin to really work on my next mix :p

Should be out this month :)

I still love this mix! :D
