oh ! i don't know how i forgot about this one.

when andrea and i were in ireland last year we flew over to scotland for a few days. on the flight back to ireland andrea left her purse under the seat in front of us. by the time we noticed (only about 15 minutes had passed) the plane had already boarded and was on it's way back to scotland. her purse had all our money in it and of course our passports.

the customer service lady at easyjet was nice but didn't get our hopes up of getting it back. she said she would do everything she could. she kept on talking about getting the "money" back but that wasn't what we cared about. we wanted our passports. during the next 24 hours we spent our time talking w/ easyjet in dublin and in edinburgh, talking with the canadian embassy in dublin to get emergency passport's (which still take a few weeks), and speaking w/ air transat to see what they needed to let us on the plane to go home. we also had phoned my parents and had them wire us some money for the remainder of our trip.

after getting nowhere dealing w/ easyjet over the phone we ended up driving an hour back to the airport and speaking w/ the same lady in person from the day before (we had to remind her of our situation as she didn't remember who we were at first). a colleague of hers that she used to work with happened to work at easyjet in edinburgh so she called her and had her do a thorough search for it. she ended up finding it with everything intact and had in sent to us on the next plane. we had it within about 2 hours of her finding it. they sent it over in an HP toner box and we just waited for it to come out to the baggage claim.

haven't really lost anything physical, except for $20 notes here and there

on a related note - I once found a medical bracelet on the bus.. called the 1800 number on it and they put me in contact with the girl who lost it... she has diabetes, and when she came to grab it of me, she said weirdly enough she started feeling a bit sick since she lost it and was worried to leave her house without it :) felt really good to help someone like that!

I lost my mind about 13 years ago...which incidently is the same time I started working for my current employer.

dropped my box of chocolates on the subway and someone kicked it out the door so the train wouldn't drive off with it stuck in the door.

was lucky... I like to keep the gifts I'm given during the holidays

My wallet fell out of my coat pocket last year in London right outside the house. A neighbor found my business card in it and called me within an hour. So grateful.

lost my my tooth when i was around 9 or 10 skateboarding. I smashed my face on the ground after trying to grind a rail and chipped my tooth right off. couldn't find it to save my life. (got to love the dentist)
