Beatport 4.0 (pg. 9)

I think Beatport 4.0 is a good start. Unfortunately deploying a new codebase isn't something they can add one feature at a time.

IMO the process for buying tracks should have 4 stages.

1) Player (listen to the tracks one at a time)
2) Playlist (if you are listening to a track you like then add it)
3) Hold Bin (long term storage for tracks you like)
4) Crate (finally buying tracks)

It seems like they are still ironing out the kinks right now as well as planning for new features/enhancements. I'm excited to see where they go from here.

Yeah the samples don't seem any longer, that's a bummer. They're supposed to be at least 2 mins. I agree with you re: user settings, they should save the docking positions when you log in. Don't even know if that's possible :p

edit // About the playlist, you can just click "clear playlist" instead of deleting them one by one.

I think the biggest problem is this is such a drastic change from the old Beatport. If anything, it will just take time to get used to the way you need to use it to make it more comfortable.

um, no matter what i do: i can't leave the main page :wtf:

tried it out last night around 11pm and had no problems with it. seems to be working fine for me this morning as well. am i alone on this one?

it will take a bit for me to get used to the new layout, but i have no major complaints. tho i keep finding myself clicking on the album art just to the left of the track name when i mean to click the play button. was the play button right next to the track name before or are my motor skills really that poor?

i also really like the new 'link to page' feature.

They're longer, crisper samples with a needle drop function.

My understanding is (from a buddy that works at Beatport) that the samples henceforth will be of higher quality... I think some people might need to realize this when they're checking current-and-older samples.

Oh very well. It sounds like they fixed them all, or most of them anyway. Everything I've had in my crate sounds better and they're definitely a bit longer.

Well if that's so, cool deal... I haven't really had a chance to mess with it yet. I was up at ~1:00AM EST when they went live with the update though, and I was on the phone with my buddy who is a developer. I got to be the guy who said "uh, hey Beatport, your new site doesn't work". By the time it was working I was ready to pass out, so I just went to bed.

Clovis was having issues getting on with Safari but it worked fine on my machine. Might have to do with a flash update. Have you tried that?

I've tried it with Chrome, IE 6/7, and firefox. It works on all of those browsers.

Seems to be working fine on the current version of Safari for me...
