in other words, that project of his is just a product of mental masturbation. it has absolutely no meaning, just like the rest of his works i have encountered.

Kind of cool though huh? I was talking in MSN before whilst a sodeoka stream was playing at the background (which i forgot) for some time and suddenly i stopped typing and felt hypnotized somehow... :nervous: maybe its a conspiracy and the project is only phenomenally artistic, maybe its not what it appears to be lol

I have red that some musicians have used samples from various number stations to give their tracks "this" kinda-spooky extra atmosphere.

I think that Boards of Canada is one of them. I'm not sure but i think that they use a lot of such old weird stuff to accompany their strange moogy-sounding synth-lines, stuff like old radio intermissions, documentary broadcasts and number stations. Its nice.

Very good. Sounds very atmospheric, harmonic and dissonant at the same time. What is it?

I found a BOC tune i really like which features some samples with numbers but i can't recognize if its from a number station or just from a kid that counts.

Very nice moogy psychedelic music IMO.

EDIT: i Just saw "the entire release" in your post heh. Will listen.

ya, it's from a number station, but it's not on conet. i believe it was one of the autechre guys who recorded it with an hf-receiver.

And the end of Porcupine Tree's "Even Less" (on "Stupid Dream", 1999) there is a recording of a numbers station.

quote:
At the end of the track a woman can be heard repeating the pattern of numbers: "0096 2251 2110 8105". About this numbers, Wilson stated: "The counting in 'Even Less' is taken from a recording of a shortwave numbers station. It is understood that these stations are used by intelligence agencies to transmit coded messages to overseas operatives, although no government agency has ever acknowledged the existence of these stations or what their actual purpose might be. They are virtually impossible to decode without the key since the message and its key are generated at random."

Miles Davis' "Flamenco Sketches" is hands down the most chill track I have ever heard.
