Promoting etiquitte on Facebook

You know when you get an invite for an event, and someone can't go, and they KNOW they can't go, so that person will say they are not attending the night, but also adding a comment on the wall saying
"Sorry, but I'm spinning at "such & such" a place the same night"...

Do you think there's some sorta tolerance for it, is it accepted, or do you think it really pisses people off?

Is it good or bad self-promotion?

Personally I'm a bit impartial to the whole idea of it. I don't do it, but my friends do, and I've never really bothered to know what people think about it either.

There is no etiquette on facebook....people basically get spammed with invites from ten different "promoters" for one party..sometimes a single "promoter" will send you the same invite for one party 5 different times....if people want to spam their walls with self promotion, i say go for it...

I liken it to using the search function. :o

actually this is likely the case of a promoter using the "Invite Group" option... for some wack (and annoying) reason Facebook automatically re-sends you that same invite unless you accept/decline...

i think its stupid no matter who it is saying tehy cant come

hell people that put maybe or yes are even worse just cos they think "oh im gonna put yes or maybe so i dont hurt the person sending me this invite"

Post whatever you want.

If the event host doesn't like what you post, they can just delete it from their event wall.

lol. i read the thread title wrong and i thought you are starting a campaign to promote etiquette on facebook. like you were getting a list of politeness rules together to promote politeness on facebook. but alas another "promoting on facebook" waste of time thread.

is etiquitte a band or something?

Usually theres no reason to explain why you arent coming anyways... they invite like 2500 to a party that has a capacity of like 300... its not like they need or want to hear an explanation as to why any one person is not attending.

Obviously if its a good friends bday then its a different story but then you would probably call them on the phone and tell them why you are coming as opposed to using facebook.

it is funny how most people posting on the wall are the one's saying they can't go......lol

I even had a guy post on my event for CZ last Sun saying "screw that!"......lol.....why even put the effort in if you don't care to go???

lol
