no, that's not the point. this:

and it might just get some people to check out their original when they hear it.

those people already think it's the original. in actuality, it doesn't sample a boc piece -- it is a boc piece almost in its entirety. but as the aforeposted quote indicates, her fanbase will listen to her track and marvel, time and time again, at her "originality" and "freshness". sure, the relatively brighter of them may read the booklet after all, but it'll only point out to them the "sampling" source... yeah like who the are those boards of canada people anyway? must be her nipple tweakers, aight!

A moment ago the point was that it was a "blasphemy" and that her out of key singing "ruined the track". Now it's about what her fans think. Make your mind up as to exactly why you're pissed off, please.

so, let them. they don't care, why should you care? it might aswell be timbaland or polow da don behind it for all they care. the ones knowledgable about the music and maybe discover b.o.c. or will know about it and think it's a good idea or bad idea. the others will either like it, hate it, have no opinion about it and will just be ok with the fact that ignorance is bliss.

pardon, i'll elaborate: i'm pissed off that the mere adding of some dreadful out-of-key singing on top of someone else's finished work suffices to enable a person to publish the resultant output as a standalone piece in her own name, thereby giving her fans the false impression of her ingenuity.

i'm just totally confuzzled by what passes for accomplished musical talent these days. some people work their ass off to produce decent results, then enters a solange, farts out of her mouth, and all of a sudden she's miss originality now.

noisician, you take the youtube comments on the solange one seriously now? youtube comments are filled the random ideas of clueless idiots.
yunno, it's a juxtaposed thing for anyone in her field to use something like this. boards of canada never really strived for mass appeal, even tho their stuff is really accessible, like almost to a rediiculase extent.

and i am honestly guessing that most of the plebs that bought the solange knowles album actually skips this and goes for the remix of i decided with snoop dogg. her fanbase are the ones who want 13 tracks similar to 'i decided'. it's not even a single nor isn't the one attracting any special attention beyond b.o.c.'s fanbase who in most respects are musicgeeks. they are the ones getting their panties in a bunch over this.

I don't think that it this is necessarily a bad thing in terms of who gets the credit. Since BOC were mentioned then there is no problem.

The problem is that this track with her singing on top sounds horrible!!! I mean this is a kinda spooky, dark track for s sake, the last thing you want is some kind of r'n'b-style vocals on top. I could imagine the voice of Beth Gibbons by Portishead to fit somehow, since Beth can make a kind of tragic and deep voice that dwells between the angelic and the soulful, but this sounds like the auditory version of a clown.

something tells me there are thousands more who feel the same about this sudden burst of musical enlightment of hers. after all, this track does differ significantly from everything else on that album (duh!)

which makes me wonder all the more why they allowed this to happen. could it be another of their inside jokes? i need to play this backwards.
