| the world recession will deepen, and those less adapted to change will suffer greatly. I for one hope that mental and physical health gains notoriety, aswell as education. The core of civilization if you ask me... |

| the pound will weaken further against the euro and once it gets into negative amounts (its about 1.05 to £1 at the mo, but it was 1.23 in october) then the UK should embrace the eurozone currency as it would make us stronger through the amount of people using it as currency. |

I Disagree
- It would cost the economy billions to implement a new currency.
- Prices would be increased on everything just like all the main cities in Europe.
- Britain would loose its independence and would just be another country in Europe.
The only good thing is that the EU would have more laws over the banking industry.
I do expect to see a income tax increase to 22% and VAT to rise to 19% the UK
Debt rate is growing and so is un-employment and I will predict that many large
retail shops will go into Administration in 2009. |

I don't really agree so much. I think that if the Euro hit exactly 1 pound you could freeze the exchange rate and allow euros to be paid out at banks etc and basically there would be equality in it for maybe 12-18 months with both currencies regarded as the same value. Prices what now cost pounds would be forced to give the same in euros and not allow the companies to push up the prices for a specific period of time to stop us from being ripped off. We would benefit longterm from the stability of the currency being used across the eurozone and it may stop the bank of england from having so much power to abuse. Whilst prices abroad may cost more still, if they forced it to be the same here, so a loaf of bread costing £1.25 cost €1.25 etc it may work. who knows, it's at least a different option to look at. |

| Undortunately, I don't see brighter days for Britain, and it worries me. Ian is right, but Englishmen would rather drown on their pride than witness their beloved currency fall against the big Euro. However, it's still noteworthy pointing out that the pound remains strong against the US Dollar, which opens up more options in your favor. |
