i was obsessed with top gun as a kid too. god i was such a tomboy looking back. lol i totally wanted to be a fighter pilot when i saw that movie too.
i'm surprised i didn't end up doing something military related. my dad's life is very miliary oriented even though he isn't active duty, but he worked for DOD for years and years and i was always flying to some military base in the summers to visit him and he'd take me out to all these outings with his crazy pilot friends...usually some sort of camping or hiking or sky diving or rock climbing.
now he just works for BAE systems but it's still a pretty cool career. he was a part of one of the programs for the JSF F-35

Well my brother flies the plane at the end of the video - AWAC's. I guess that's close enough hah. He got air sick too easily when flying the fighter trainer. Of course if I end up joining I'd like to fly, but I'm more interested in being a combat controller.

actually thats not true. you can be guaranteed, in a contract, what you will do before you sign up. If the contract isn't right demand something else, or say you will go to another branch. There are tons of tutorials on the internet, or you can ask a veteran/active duty member, how to get the best out of your military contract.

:haha: I was part of the UK equivalent of Air Force ROTC and when we used to go up to the airfield the only video we had with our small TV was 'Top Gun'. I thought it was amusing to watch about guys in Tomcats (whilst watching in our flight suits!) and then go and play around in these!
