Sorry for your loss. :(

I've had to put animals to sleep and it is a difficult thing. Just know that you did the right thing.

may your dog rest in dog heaven

it's over 2 years since i had to make the decision to put ben to sleep before his 5th birthday and i still know i made the right choice, but i wish i didn't. Fortunately we heal eventually and taking on a new dog often helps that, it takes so much energy & effort, especially from a puppy, that it does the trick usually.

awww, that sucks rob. i still remember how painful it was when we had to put down our old dog, Jango, who was very sick.

And the dog we have now, Mira, has cancer, but there it has spread too much to be treated, but she isn't in any pain, so the veterinary has adviced us to enjoy the time we have left with her, until she starts getting sick.

It's gonna be an empty house when we have to put her down :)
And you always kinda forget that when they're gone, you still call out their name when a piece of food falls on the floor etc hehe.

About the most heart-warming response I could have gotten from a friend.

And I appreciate all the kind words/stories from the rest of you guys too. :)

what breed was it? :(
RJT
Chocolate lab. I don't have any digital pics of him at the moment, if I stumble on any or we get some uploaded I'll post one here.

:sadgreen: omg a lab!

We just heard back from our vet who pretty much said Brooks had little to no chance of making it much longer any way (he apparently had a pretty serious degenerative disease we didn't know about), and that any life he'd have had would have been awful for him.

I never doubted we made the right choice, but it was good to hear he wouldn't suffer anymore.

Definitely odd without the fella around the house the past week. :(

I don't have any digital pics that I can find as of yet, so I'm going to scan the snapshots and other pics we have once I've tracked those down.

I will probably do it over the weekend.
