My girlfriend loves Billy Joel, Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, etc., so clearly we're way off from each other when it comes to music. She does like a lot of what I listen to, but she's not big on it because she just doesn't "get it" according to her.

Lack of vocals. I have seen them get near violence over this concept. :nervous:

And just what the is wrong with Billy Joel?

Whoooooooa there. I'm not saying anything's wrong with him at all. Hell, he and Dave Matthews are probably the only good artists out of the pop ones she listens to. He's just not on the top of my list of things I'd choose to listen to first.

I'm sure you can find some someplace, I doubt very often though.

Sucks, they are really fun.

If I knew people who were interested, I might try to put on some ambient nights myself. But I don't know anybody who shares my passion for it in San Antonio...

Have you ever been to an ambient/drone concert...? Usually much more sociable event than a rave with epic vocal trance lol.

Wow - I really hammered that post (spelling) (sorry)

No - never been to an ambient concert. Can't imagine it actually....headphone experiences for me....very non-conversative time..

That's exactly what she's said, too. I've told her that it's more the artistic concept of the music than it is the vocal concept. She understands that yet still thinks it's a bit odd. Nice thing is that she still tries to listen to it and get it; it's slowly growing on her.

That's fine. I mean, I hold music in a high regard to myself, but it's not her thing so I'm not going to give a if she doesn't like it. What I do like is that she'll go out with me to clubnights and dance, get high and go to a really small Ambient event and still have a good time, or let me blast Aphex Twin in the car.

Neither of us care, and I think that those who do and make a fuss about it should be slapped in the face.

Aphex Twin in the car..... that's a good girl of yours...Aphex is usually a solo drive for me...
