well...i generally dont start review threads but felt this time it was necessary.

firstly, i was really impressed with the venue. i wasnt expecting windsor to have a club as good as this. the layout is really nice, the staff were really good and the owners were top notch guys! they really made me feel at home.

i got there around 11:30 and lady frequency was on deck. i caught a few of her tracks but then was brought downstairs to check out UFC (which i thought was pretty sick). i had just miiiissed Anderson Silva getting knocked out! :eyes: i could not believe it when i heard it.

after watching a few skull crushing moments i went back upstairs and Aleksandra was on. i was NOT expecting her to bang it out the way she did. relentless techno! i think what surprised me more was the crowd was eating it up. i was expecting the crowd to be all about cheesy vocally catchy tunes but i was so wrong.

i had a great time there. 3 hours just flew by.

boom boom room is a place i would definitely visit again :)

well her sound ranges from deep house to tech house to techno with electro (here & there)

she plays according to the venue, the time slot and the crowd. she recently played @ a private party a few weeks ago where she plays the best deep/tech house ive heard. this mix @ the boom boom room was completely different. a lot more aggressive.

what did she play when you saw her last?

Honestly I dont remember... thats how memorable it was for me.
I think it was last time porter was at FW... I think it was housy maybe a little proggy... but I couldnt get into it.

I found her mixing was a bit off and blehhh

We waited outside until she was done.

Edit: It wasnt Steve Porter (that was Evan G spinning and I had a similar 'wait outside until its over' experience)

Im pretty sure last time I heard her it was more proggy (which would be why I didnt like her)

i dont normally hear prog from her. she played deeper @ the steve porter gig cuz it was an opening set. shes not going to bang it out during a 10pm-12am set lol. (its called dj ediquette)

anyway, shes got a series of mixes on her site that captures different sounds. her latest mix captures a tougher side to her music library. im sure 1 of those mixes will be to your liking.

RR this review thread should just be a talented GF appreciation thread right? ;) LOL

A dj can play a nice deep opening set without boring me to pieces.... Ie. Jeff Button or Nuera - the two best openers of the year for me.

well this review wasnt just about her set, it was more of a review for the whole experience i.e the club itself (its staff) and its clubbers. shes played many events in toronto and i dont start a review thread, let alone a write a review. but i suppose i can see why one would think this...

Im split on prog... I guess it depends on the track selection and DJ style.

Still I disliked her sets the few times Ive seen her (same with the boyfriend who LOVES prog)

Regardless Ill make an effort to check her out when I see she has a later time slot.

Thanks for sharing the review. Cant wait to make it down to BBR one day. Only hear good things about it.
