Well I really wouldn't consider it a fully fledged DAW.
palm
it does what it does VERY good but there are things it doesnt do at all which very many people can easily live without. if not u have rewire. i should stop protecting it tho as i starting to need something more from my tools.
Zild
I never said it sucked. I think it is OK, and even better if you are just using it for the instruments, but I can't consider it a true DAW. It is fairly expensive though when you can pay $100 more for Logic.

It doesn't get marketed as an "all-in-one" style package like Reason, but IMO it is moreso than others. It lacks -nothing-

I've not found an area it's weak on, in coverage. Only a little interface obtuseness(and I'm bein quite harsh on it, in that regard). Basically, it's the . It's not perfect, but it's absolutely great.

It isn't marketed that way because IMO you need to add some VST instruments and FX to make it an all inclusive package. The included VSTs are fairly weak.

I don't think so... I use 90% C4's FX units, and sound pretty dang good now that I've got some time under my belt. And Prologue is actually a pretty good synth. Its meant to be a simpler one.

I was trying to be nice. I learned on Cubase.

Same here. Even though I don't care for its workflow or its UI, there's no denying that Cubase is a good DAW. But, in my opinion, Steinberg should either improve the bundled plugins or just get rid of them altogether and reduce the price. But, of course, one thing I've learned in my many years as a registered Cubase owner is that my opinion doesn't matter - Steinberg does what it wants and we are all expected to just jump up and down with glee over whatever they decide to shove at us. That's just one of the reasons it's no longer my primary DAW.

i mainly use renoise 2 and Cubase 4. I'll just do renoise as it's not been covered yet.

pros:
* small program, just a couple of MB's
* included plugins are cpu efficient' powerful and clean.
* it costs only little
* works pattern based, which makes it easy and fast to create new concepts in little time.
* awesome support, good features being added on request.
* constantly being updated.
* got plugin delay compensation recently.
* stable and cpu efficient.
* most features fit on 1 screen without cluttering the interface. Optimal performance :)

Cons:
* it's pattern based. it's hard to get a proper overview of the tracks flows and transitions.
