well for a start the world is full of arrogant idiots who like to dish out bad comments over the use of the drug E, and 99.9% of the time theyve never tried it. from there because peopel take drugs in clubs they assoiciate with the music. now, heres where the biggest amount of arrogant mornic narrowminded lness comes in! they think peopel take the drug to enjoy the music, they think thats the only reason they take anything, implying that if they didnt take drugs they wouldnt enjoy it, well... |
Some people aren't stupid enough to mess with illegal drugs, while at the same time smoking three packs of cigs a day. I personally dont do drugs, although I do take offense when some losers say you need to take drugs to create good music... Yeah, and I'll be the judge if it's good music thank you very much.
I guess I'm a control freak, drugs & absolute control dont mix. |

I read that smoking kills by far the most people, followed by alcohol, then drugs, yet the government (in Britain I think) spends by far the most money per person using on trying to prevent drugs being used - something like $20,000 per user, while smoking receives a meagre $2.50 or so per user.
Sure this piece of information came from a book trying to help people giving up smoking but that does not mean its incorrect.
I think that's its your choice and as long as you know the effects of the substance, you should be allowed to choose what you take. The worst possible thing that can be done in campaigns is to doctor the truth to make things look different which will end up with people not knowing the true effects of what they're taking. |

some people are just so arrogant towards drugs because theres so much crap twisted thru the media it sicken me, and you get people with their "oh so true" opinions which are based on fake stories twisted from the actual truth. i mean in the uk 26 people died last last year. this was either from overheating in a crmaped environment while using the drug, dehydration for similar reasons as above, or mixing with other drugs. i would be suprised if anyone at all last year died a sole cause of the drug by itself...
compare that to the thousands dying from smoking and car accidents then it shows that people moral priorities should lie elsewhere, how many people die from dirnk driving than taking ecstacy? i rest my case, dont drink and drive. |

I know it's a bit off topic, but I was just wondering what the scene would be like if there weren't any drugs.
It wouldn't be as popular for one thing, and everyone would probably be drunk, coz it's human nature to do some form of substance abuse.
PvD playing to 40 000 drunk w4nk3rs....? I'm very glad thatdrugs are around :D |
Why does electronic dance music need drugs to be 'popular'? You shouldn't need drugs to enjoy the music, ok so I can see they might make the experience 'better' for some ppl, but you don't need them. If ppl rly like the genre they would still listen 2 it without drugs. Besides electronic dance music isn't exactly THE most popular genre in the world and how does popularity effect the music? OK so prehaps there would be less events/clubs but if it means less drug takers then thats good IMO. Finally what makes PvD playing to 40 000 drugged up 'w4nk3rs' any better?

Hey kurai - In response to your statement "people who need drugs in order to listen to this kind of music suck"... off. Why do we suck? Because we don't have the same beliefs as you? So your opinion is the only right one, huh? Oh, I see. I by no means NEED drugs to enjoy trance at all. I listen to it every single day of the week, before work, after work, at home, on the weekends, all the time. But when I go out on Saturday night to have fun after a hard week, I like to take some beans and feel good and enjoy the music and the club that much more. So we suck because of that? When I didn't do drugs, I surely did not bash people that did. And now that I do, I do not bash people that don't take them. If someone is pushing drugs on you, then you have a right to get angry with them. But don't ing criticize the rest of us if we're not bothering you. |
Well if he said ppl who NEED DRUGS inorder to LISTEN to this kind of music suck then it DOESN'T apply to you does it? You say you do not need drugs to enjoy the music yet you say 'Why do we suck' when you are not one of 'we'. Anyway Kurai is right; if you NEED drugs to LISTEN to electronic dance music u do suck.

Did Paul actually say anything in this commerical or are we just assuming his position on this topic because they used his music because he is a well known electronic producer/DJ? |
Good point, but I think PvD is anti-drugs ne way...

As for PVD, there's nothing wrong about him advertising an anti drug campaign... Basicly, I don't see no reason whatsoever why should of he refused to do so... Like I already said, people are free: it's not for PVD or whoever to dictate what's best for you.. Simply assume the responsabilities, and be happy |
well said.

as long as they dont harm anyone else..then its ok.
if they are harming themselves from the drugs, then hey, thats THEIR own problem....and im sure drug users know that too.... |
I'm ok with ppl taking drugs if they don't harm ne 1 else, don't pressurise ppl and don't act like its really cool 2 take drugs. However I think we should all get some collectivism going on here where every1s actions effect each other ;)

What really kills people.
Alcohol...the legal people killer. |
Referring to other larger killers does not make taking ecstacy ok. However it can be used to so how relatively little the danger is of taking ecstacy.

Unfortunately his research + opinion seems to be all biased; I have yet to hear any arguments AGAINST ecstacy from him and fail to believe that there is NOTHING bad to be said about ecstacy. |

I didn't want to make a post on this age-old topic but I always wonder why people want to try and make people who take drugs feel about themselves. Do you geninely care about our health?? or are you just trying to lord it over us that you must have a more pure passion for music if you don't take them?
You seem to think that people who do them start to NEED them. Do you NEED a drink when you go out or is it just nice to have one? Like said above if you are under the influence of ANY drug (lets say, alcohol OR ecstasy) you are still altering your natural state of mind. But if its a legal drug your naturally passionate about electronic music right? If its a pill its your taking it because you can't enjoy yourself without them. If ecstasy was legal peole wouldn't feel so self-righteous about not doing it. They are BOTH drugs at the end of the day.
I recently had a ing amazing night out when I went to see PVD and I was neither on E nor alcohol and I didn’t miss them at all.
Why do people who don’t take drugs give stick to people that do. Drug-users don’t have a go at people for NOT taking drugs – imagine the outcry! Its no-ones business what people do to themselves that’s why. If I wanted someone to look out for my health they would be well informed and experieced in the subject, not just have a go at me!
You get warned about the abuse of drugs. What about the abuse you get off non drug-users? |
