hehe if u have never gone, u should try to go if u are local to NYC. seriously, some of the most memorable times have been at these events. I tend to run into old school TAs at times whom have 'retired' from the scene but will still try to make it to this. You know he will be throwing down mostly from the new album but may also surprise fans with some oldies :D these Virgin appearances NEVER disappoint. Always a GREAT vibe...and NEVER have had any problems with so-called 'groupies'. |
well to be fair perhaps you've never seen groupies but that doesn't mean they don't exist so to call them so-called isn't really a fair assessment. i've gone to a couple of these things and hung out with you there and we've definitely had a good time sans overtly crazy people but groupies are everywhere for everyone especially someone at ferry's level. different experiences for different people and no one experience is "the way" it is. |

hehe huge fan = hell yeah, ferry is mah DUDE!!
groupie = hell freakin no. :) :)
I love Ferry to death, that is not at ALL what I meant by the above post. ^^^
I think lyss, that you are taking me the wrong way. Never did I say that I cant have fun at one of these, nor did I say that no one else could or HAVE. I think what ferry is doing is great. Its good for his business, his reputation, and his fans. There are tons of fans out there that might not get as many opportunities as us TA's, to get a sig or speak to Ferry..... so by all means go have fun and enjoy him!
What I was really saying was (and I am filling in missing info to be more clear), I had already had gotten tickets for big plans for that time frame saturday night. Based on the things that drive me mad at these types of gigs, i didnt want to cancel the plans with friends just to get yet ANOTHER sig (in long lines, often around crazed psycho's) and hear the same songs he will play a few hours later.
Its not that I dont appreciate Ferry or this gig or his signature or his music...... because I have MORE respect for him than ANY other DJ. I think you all know how I feel about the guy, so I think u are missing my point. I think everyone should go have a blast and soak this all up! Ferry is an INCREDIBLE DJ/producer that deserves everything he works for. :) :) For the people who havent heard his new CD, I would go JUST to hear samples of that.
and, yes, like sam and wai said, I HAVE been at these types of events where there were complete groupie whores that drove me batty. It has been my experience and you have to accept that. you are LUCKY if you have not encountered this....its enough to make you wanna choke a b*tch hahah!! Some people just dont know how to act, and see DJ's/rockers/etc as GOD's rather than **humans with extraordinary talent**. |

Question.
Is anyone doing a table for this? It's Lisa's bday so I don't mind doing it, but do you think it will be necessary? I've never felt the need in WH (unlike Pacha). I only did it once for IM and was abundantly grateful for it because of how packed the place was. How do you think it will be at Ferry? |

| Does Ferry still play tracks from a few years ago every now and then like 'Who's Knocking?' / 'I Love You' etc? I'm slightly embarrassed to say those get me a little nostalgic lol. Last I saw him his style seemed to be getting harder. Maybe I'll swing by the signing @ Union Sq to have a listen |

definitely. He played lots of oldies at DC. Andrew gave me an article about how he got sick of the same ol trance when he made L.E.F, and thus the electro sound in the last album. He goes on to say though, that he has returned in his love for trance, and thus the new album, which speaks for itself!! <3 <3 |
