Music like LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
View this Thread in Original format

Just recently heard this cd, and i really like tracks like Get Innocuous, Someone Great, Sound Of Silver, i guess the dancier stuff...
But its the sorta indie/rock (?) element to it that makes it different so anyone got any suggestions for similar types of stuff to check out?

Thanks :D

Cut Copy
Hot Chip
Any remix by Aeroplane

That should get you started off nicely...

Holy Ghost!

Check out DFA Records, that's James Murphy's (aka LCD Soundsystem) label.

The Rapture and the Klaxons have a dancey/indie feel too, as does MGMT. Soulwax and Ewan Pearson remix a lot of these artists into more dancefloor oriented stuff too.

yeah not mad on Hot Chip really, like some of their stuff. MGMT are good, not very dancy tho but still good.
Will check out the other recommendations, thanks all!

I looooove Sound of Silver. But as much as I love their music, I think LCD Soundsystem are even better DJs.

A criminally underrated group in my opinion is Bent. Check out their most recent album, "Intercept!" They're an electronica act with significant indie leanings.

Interesting, I've never heard of them DJing.

They did fabriclive 36 which was amazing, and I saw them in NYC last summer. Not technically proficient DJs by any means but it was a great party and they play awesome disco and funk.

Yep, all a part of a series they've dubbed *Special Disco Versions*, which typically features either James Murphy (the front man for LCD) or Pat Mahoney (bandmember of LCD, and James' mate for years).

Sometimes the main man behind Hercules & Love Affair, Andy Butler, joins them on tour and to see ANY of these guys is a treat as their unique blend of disco, funk & spacey house music is quite refreshing.

+1 to Cut/Copy and Hercules & Love Affair. They are both fantastic live.

Not as much of a fan of Hot Chip. Simian Mobile Disco can be hit or miss too.
