I may sound a little hard, but don't get me wrong. I have all the respect in the world for Tiesto as a electronic musician...DJ or producer. It's just that when people make comments like 'Tiesto is God'...I wonder where they base these judgements from.
And techno DJ's, while they are very crafted, have it easier to mix than trance DJ's simply based on the fact of track structure: techno is very layered and repetitive(not saying it's not cool!) so it's easier to phrase match and layer out the mix...with trance(especially epic i.e melodic or whatever) the track structure is structured in a particular way, and to even make it more complicated, most trance structures are very different.
But who cares. As long as we love the music we listen to, and as long as the music we listen to we love, it's all good.:D |

Ok, not to sound 'biased' here- just gonna state a fact- but Mauro has been playing hard 'techno' sets for a long time now. Back in early 2001, he used to throw in some of his older trance productions to please the crowd, but u won't hear that anymore. Since Spring 2001-on, he's mostly been producing techno music. You probably heard PLENTY of his productions down in Panama, but you just didn't know it, due to the change in his style. He's released several cd's in the past year that reflect this change- "Metamorphose", "Maximal FM", & "The Others".
U can't really compare Mauro to Tiesto, as they play different styles, but Mauro wins hands down in terms of skill. He's a madman on the mixer, & produces more tracks than u can shake a stick at. I like them both for what they do, but Tiesto's remix of Mauro's "Pulsar" is by far one of the crappiest remixes I've ever heard. I'm surprised Mauro even gave him the ok on that one.... |

They base their judgements from their favourite dj of one of their favourite if not their number one dj, of course... |

Lets talk sense, not out of our s please
The only commercial tune Picotto released was Komodo (which he states he dislikes and shouldn't have released it)
Talking about DJ's being overated??
I saw Mauro Picotto and Tiesto spin on the same nite. Tiesto is GOOD (note: two O's not one) and he makes absolutely amazing tunes but thats pretty much all he should stick to - producing.. his mixing skills are . Picotto tore the place apart |

øh..only komodo?????
what about pulsar, iguana, like this like that, prxoimus????
they're just as commercial as komodo, and are equally sucky =P
spring 2001 = commercial "!#%!#"!#"!# no skills@all
after he started to play techno he has grown to one of the big dj's, and gained a reputation he truly deserves.
and thank god he doesnt play that cheezy productions in his sets anylonger :) |

you ppl just don't know your do you? :)
(except tatgirl :p)
The "commercial tracks" you lot are talking about were produced some 3/4 years ago!! He just released those tunes relatively late and they became popular even later!
And you know...I don't understand why Picotto can't produce any "comercial" stuff..even though your God (bleh) Tiesto releases "commercial" tunes all the time!!! I mean, I like some of his stuff..but if you listen to it closely you can HEAR the commercial rate in them....so why wine about commercialism!
Anyway... |

Got to see him live last night in some little hole down here in panama that was packed like nothing i have ever been in before. He did not play any of his productions which to me was bull, why else would i see him right? and his set was mostly hard-house crap, which i personaly dont like... his mixxing skills were pretty good, but after 2 hours it was just way to repetitive for my taste. Seeing tiesto a couple weeks earlier, then seeing picotto after is just lame. Tiesto owns. :D
***so, what im really trying to get at here is, if any of you lamers have seen picotto, do you think he is overatted, or am i just a to critical? |
hehe he plays techno, and yes after 2 hours i find it grates a bit. non the less a good dj. he defos has the skills mixing wise. |
