Most yes, but there are some people that live in the sticks that don't get it. I always forget it exists till these people call in. |

Verizon won't run DSL to my parents' house and they can't get cable either, so they've been on dialup for like 10 years. It's like living in a cave when I go there to visit. At Christmas, I used the browser on my blackberry because it was faster.
It's actually rather sad, my 80 year-old grandparents that live a mile away from them have DSL, but my parents still can't get it. |

Same here.
I remember the day I came home from school and logged on with out the beeep boooooooooobshhhhhhhhhhhhheebeebeeep. I would log on, go make a snack while it did its beep fest and come back. Well this time I logged on, went to make a snack and didn't hear anything. I check - POOF no more dial up.
Having the phone AND the internet work at the same time? AWESOME! |

I remember the days where I had to shout "IM GONNA USE THE INTERNET", because every time we connected, all our phones would ring just once, but if somebody picked up, it would up the connection process. Sucked too because I couldn't get on the internet past a certain time since my parents would be sleeping and of course all the phones ringing would wake them up.
Or how about when someone called that line, most of the time it would kick you off.
The day we got a second phone line was glorious.
This was all about 8 years ago, I'd say. |

There was a special dial code you had to put into the phone number to disable call waiting while on the call. ;) |
