Sirius/XM Lifetime purchase?

anyone know any cons to this? I pay like $13/mo or so for XM and they offered me a lifetime purchase for $400, meaning I will never have to pay another bill again.

I did the math and that's about 2.5 years worth of bills until it starts paying for itself.

Anyone do this? To me it sounds like a good idea, but I just don't want them to shaft me some how with the whole merger going on or something.

They already merged I believe, but I would see how they are doing as a company nowadays the way things are.

Buy it, but make sure to get the package that allows you to get BOTH the XM and Sirius stations. And upgrade your hardware to allow that.

do it, get the sirius stations as well, and listen to howard.

all you need for the morning commute

edit: and yeah, the merger happened just before the new year, there was a bunch of stations that got renamed on sirius. Area38 is much better now, lot of obscure remixes and what not, plus sirius have all the best* live to air stuff as well, VONYC Sessions, Clublife, Oakenfolds show, robbie riviera, and a few more.

*note: in my opinion..no need to start a flame war about who is the best, just stating what is on the channel.

I get it through Dish Network and never listen to it. I have a USB input in my car and it's full of music I want to hear. Wouldn't miss them much personally...especially with lame shows like PVD's crap.

This is basically the reason why I like satellite radio. It has brand new stuff you probably haven't downloaded/purchased yet. Plus you can listen to the radio broadcasts on Radio 1, etc. Plus, if you don't feel like listening to what you have, you have more variety than if you turned on the regular radio. :)

I don't personally own radio of any sort. AM/FM or satellite. Although my AM/FM doesn't work by my own doing. Subaru's for my year have an in-glass antenna. When I installed my aftermarket stereo, I was unaware of that fact, and the need for the power antenna wire to be connected for this to work either. Not to mention the adapter harness didn't have one. So obviously, I didn't connect it. I have been too lazy to bother. I rarely need it anyways.

Regular radio plays the same 5 songs that are the hits of the day.

I only use MP3 cds. I am buying an iPod Mini today to mod with a 32gb CF card. This will be my in-car music player after I get it done. w00t cheap and effective.
