so, i got to the club at like 10:30ish, and there was a short line. First time at Roxy and I was impressed with the venue. Good amount of space to dance, sit and chill, and there looked to be an up stairs that wasnt being used.
Randy's opening set was good...walked in to hear Disarm, which is a quality toon. The crowd was really getting into it early on, not what you typically see, so that was cool.
Ferry came on at 12 (not 11 as anticipated), and rocked it out. Cant rememeber what he played, but i looked at his tracklist from DC and it seemed to be about the same. The lighting was good ( a small laser - nothing even close to NYC). but the music was sooo loud!! the other time i saw ferry in boston, i couldnt hear for like 3 days. I dont know if it is just him or the sound in roxy, but damn, my ears rang the next day. Overall, a good time. Nice to meet Elyse and Sam...good times guys! Jealous that you got to go back stage!! |

Right on man, yea like Elyse said, my next local gig is here in CT (Hartford). its a small intimate club and it is always a great time. I would highly recommend you come check it out if you have not been there. Its nice, posh, sound is really nice, and CT lasers will be in the house for a sick laser show!
I have a $10 reduced list for all my fans so if you want to come down, its $10 to get in! Drinks are a little pricey (Roxy pricing) always a great crowd!

I had a really good time - Got there around 11ish and was enjoying what Randy was playing (Haven't seen him play since he did @ Love after the PvD Pier party, so it had been a while) - I wasn't expecting Ferry to come on untill at least 12 (Maybe a little after) He def played a solid set, I liked it a lot more then the last time I saw him in Boston at the Estate (I'm sure the venue helped with that too, I really don't like the Estate too much really) I haven't been to the Roxy since I saw Carl Cox there, but I thought the music was louder this time, which I liked but it really needs some sort of tweaking or w/e (I don't know much about this stuff lol) But my ears were def ringing pretty bad afterwards, more then usual anyway, I thought this might have been because I haven't really been out to a party since Armin @ Roseland, butt they wasn't ringing one bit after the Webster Hall show on Saturday night and I was in there almost twice as long and it was def louder in there heh, so that's what made me know it was the Roxy. Don't mistake this as complaining though, just stating =) I really had fun and appreatiate sp what Kingsize is doing for the Boston scene by brining in these DJ's, so hopfully they'll continue to keep it up

*Edit* Oh yea, one of my friends I ran into told me that there was a problem with the headphones or something and Randy/Ferry weren't using them the whole night? Can anyone clear that up if they don't mind/know? No big deal though just curious heh, thanks :tongue2 |

| Ferry busted his headphones on the way over so he had to use mine the whole night. Im selling my headphones on E-bay right now, Ferry wore them the whole night, bidding starts at $500 :) |

haha elysse girll you know I am a hard core fan but I PRIDE myself on not being a groupie/obsessive fan! haha no WAY would I pay that....I would rather take the money to get on a plane and see him in Holland again!! :haha: I will take em for errr $10 though! lolol! ;) :) |

Nice to see a couple well known dj's in Boston after the lull. Nice place I have to say. My first time going to Roxy. It has the making to be a great club, large area, numerous bars, 2 floors, etc.. But, the sound system is mearly just okay. The bass was moderate but the treble and mids were distorted imo. Massive clipping all night through ferry's set. They should redo the sound system and ramp it up to spec with what Avalon was sporting. A few stacks of turbosound tsw 218 maybe.. That place has a lot of potential. Maybe they'll get it going for Armin later this month?
Great set by Randy as well as Ferry. Good to hear the quality tracks once again. Hows the idea of trance being spun at the newly opened house of blues? I hear the sound system in that place is amazing. At least if not better than what Avalon had going. I'll be seeing Opeth this May for my first time to HOB.
Let us all hold hands and pray that we see a gig in that place in the not so distant future! ;) |
